Brokepoint - Breakpoint 2009 is in danger and needs YOUR support

category: general [glöplog]
I wonder when people will learn to read that this has already been discussed by the bp prganizers, they have already taken a stand and they've asked people not to spend more time talking about it.. :)

gargaj/scamp: ehh, yep sure! but only if i can come across a topic that actually suits me and would be fun (f.ex. i don't know much about drum and bass, nor about graphicians' attitude to the creative process). i'm open to suggestions though :-) (those did fine in 2003)

actually, salinga has a point there.. maybe design the end of the bar like that:

[basic compo prizes][streaming][deluxe compo prizes]
Slash the budget for compo prizes in half, get rid of the decoration and you're down to 50k. :)

Skrebbel: an encore on your "happy hardcore for coders" seminar would be more than awesome. Goddamn, you didn't even got the time then to finish it properly and even though the room was packed, I think people would love to see it again :)

Gargaj: just don't care about that forum at Heise Online, it's made of 150% self-proclaimed "experts" that know everything better. You could also say: NERDS.

That site is maybe the last place where geeks can behave like they did in the 80s, like, having no life and such :)

arent all forums like that?
added on the 2009-02-05 12:29:42 by Gargaj Gargaj
In this particularly regard, no. That particular forum is kind of the "4chan of German IT" :)

without the images tho. which is sad.

at least their grammar looks okay - what i meant is that every forum over a certain size will get filled with know-it-alls anyway; i mean just look at slashdot. (same happened to index.hu)

OK, the HEISE-ticker is written seriously and with an important footage to sponsor or contribute. Maybe some more people (and companys?) will further get involved now. Never underestimate the power of those scripts. Scamp, is the webserver prepared for getting a Heise-DenialOfServiceAttack? ;)

Only with bitching instead of "lulz". It's heise's own fault though. For the leading German IT website, they they have a surprisingly sucky forum implementation that does little to discourage trolling and vocal idiots. They nurtured this culture for years and seem not to be able or willing to get rid of it.

Gargaj: but look at the very first reply to that post:

Quote:

"... Meine 50 Euro gingen jedenfalls über PayPal jetzt an die Organisation. Die Veranstaltung ist immer lustig gewesen."

And that's cool!

vscd: Yeah, we are able to handle the load easily.

And yes, this news article will result in some donations, and what's more important: Possible sponsors taking note. The trolling in the comments part we'll have to live with ;)

party tent seems to be secured soon, yay! :)

yey! i really hope party decorations don't get deprioritised either. as i'm paying for me and my girlfriend already i aint got anything to donate so the most i can do for the decorations is to register my vote of appreciation for them being there in previous years! :)

and if we miss decoration, we must do it from SELF

Maybe a stupid question, but as I've never been on BP I must ask:

WTF are 'decorations'? Is it like banners and stuff hanging around the partyplace?
added on the 2009-02-05 14:58:57 by Sdw Sdw
It's stuff hanging around the partyplace.
