250 Euros might be hard, but I happely buy my entranceticket for the double price..

_chucky_ : team up with another scener and then split the entrance fee for the second dude.

..which is a good point: I think there is something to be said for raising the ticket price by a small amount, say 5 euros. 60 euros to attend BP is not a lot, and if you sell 600 normal tickets, that's 3000 more euros in the budget.

what Gloom said, and: keep the booze tent and up the price for beer. Pushing overpriced alcohol must a good way to raise some euros.

money we get from the entrance fee is very hard to plan with. last year, all german parties (yes, including bp) had a notable decrease in attendance, so we really need to be on the safe side in our budget calculations.

that said, of course we can increase the entrance fee (and we'll seriously think about it), but we're still dependent on sponsors either way (at least if we want a full-featured BP :).

However, IMHO party network and theme deco are more important than e.g. competition prizes or seminars.

Neither this nor that. We do not need decoration (or even network) and big prizes are not a priority.

Anyway, I would gladly pay more for the entrace ticket, of course.

I hope that Breakpoint 2009 would be the best demoparty ever!

As asked before.. I would also happley sponsor with a small amount of money in advance.. like 10-20 euros.. but how to pay it is a problem as told before, paypal payments might be a problem..

gloom: i think there ARE people that cannot affort even 5 euros more. and therefore I would rather prefer the small-donation-feature, so everyone can donate what he can afford.
added on the 2009-02-01 20:41:55 by ddeml ddeml
a small-donation-feature would be the best, YES.. as then people could send money from time to time when they feel they got some money to spend on something important like this.

and why not that every group atleast gather enough money to pay atleast ONE supportticket for one of the persons going to BP in the group.

Man, reality sure has cought up with the scene :(. This is depressing. However, I'd gladly donate to make this happen but I'd prefer Paypal if possible. Now, I have already requested to donate via bank transfer but if you find a way to donate via Paypal I'd love to do it that way instead.

Sigh... :(.

_Chucky_: that was actually a cool suggestion - that way the stock-indicator from Masagin could be done FOR real :D - the group that supports most euros wins ;)

it's quite understandable that some of us have very little money to spare so upping the entrance/beer fee would be the easiest solution, next to paypal etc.

everyone else: you are donating to a good cause so if you got that extra bling-bling to spare, buy the supporters ticket! Myself, I don't have much but I'll buy one. hell, I don't know if i'll even attend but I luv ya all and want you to have a good party and keep up the scene spirit ! <3

I'll everyone who can chips in... BP won't be BP unless there's atleast the boozing tent with a DJ and the shuttle service.

Oh and, just a stupid idea, but what if some Bingen based company would sponsor the party if we promise to BUY shit from them? I surely would spend some of my money in Bingen on some hardware, if it helped to get them sponsor BP. You know, like the carrot mob thing except without the hippie stuff :)

The shuttle service could be already granted if they only change the order of priorities in the progress bar. But... you know, BIG screens are important.

Whatever, this will be a Spartan Breakpoint! :D
added on the 2009-02-01 21:36:09 by ham ham
we actually own the screen (bought it last year). and we get the 1920x1080 projector from our rental for the same price we'd pay for a 1024x768 one (with the required >10k ANSI lumens) at a "normal" rental.
added on the 2009-02-01 21:39:35 by ryg ryg
IOW, the rental company well in love with Breakpoint last year and now is extremely helpful. THat's why the "video projector" budget is a just a fraction of last year's.

Oh and by the way: The progress bar has just moved again :)

Wow, this is pretty shocking.

- I think that Competition Prizes should go - I've done this in the past with Sundown when budgets were tight and it didn't affect the show at all, the quality was still good.

- Why not Obama the fuck out of the fundraising? Make it so people can have a small profile showing how much they've raised / donated? Plus, I think €250 is a real stretch for a lot of people. A €150 ticket would be good, and I'm going to try my hardest to get as much as I can for BP.

- Raise the beer prices - over here it's around €3 a pint, so I think €2 per bottle is acceptable.

- Wherever possible crowdsource, think a lot about whether equipment / labour can be got for free - like security staff / network cabling etc.

- I'll offer €1500 if scamp renames the party Sundown Germany! ;)

sorry folks, but beleaving in one single sponsor (with over half of your party budget) is like throwing money out of your windows (or investmanting it in the stock market)

freed_ohm: Who said it's only one sponsor? You know the global crysis is well ... uh ... global.

As many of you might know, the Scene.org Awards have taken place at the Breakpoint demo party in Bingen am Rhein every easter since our first event in 2003. Due to the global financial crisis, Breakpoint has lost vital sponsors, and the party is in deep financial trouble.

In order to continue the great tradition of both the Scene.org Awards and the Breakpoint demo party itself, Scene.org has decided to sponsor the party.

We are inviting all demosceners to contribute to our sponsorship by making a dedicated donation on this page. Rest assured, your donation will go directly to the Breakpoint organizing team.

Donate to Breakpoint 2009 here: http://www.scene.org/donate_breakpoint.php (any amout will do, big or small -- everything helps!)

freed: We've never been sponsored by a single entity. But it's just simple reality that the 1-2 major sponsors we always had have been big corporations and therefore been able to give a big multiple of the amount the small scene company sponsors paid. And big corporations aren't doing too well at the moment.

Yes, it's possible to replace the big ones with a huge amount of smaller sponsors. But we need help for that. Do I understand you correctly that you are already working on this? Good, thank you.
added on the 2009-02-01 22:22:05 by scamp scamp
if that is the case, would you consider lowering the 1500E minimum required for sponsorship ?
