yes, we old farts still like the shit from these old platforms...
me == being about 5 years old when i saw my first cracktro...and this having driven me into trying to enter the demoscene with 9 already (experimenting with music/gfx on c64) ...made my first self-coded release with 14 then ( after experimenting with code for 2-3 years )...

its just that scene == my life ! i arose with it !
no matter which platform...
...the point is: if 8bit,16bit or 32bit with all its possibilities...all these platforms have their demos....and i like the old stuff the same as the new stuff !

to me its not RETRO...to me its my life !

We need a new scene. Some kind of "home computer" scene where we could like dig both demos and Comic Bakery without having to worry that SOME OUTSIDER MIGHT NOT THINK THIS IS ART AND IT SO IS EVEN ALL MY FRIENDS CALL ME AN ARTIST PLEASE GO AWAY SO YOU DON'T EMBARRASS ME BECAUSE YOU ARE THE REASON THEY THINK I'M NOT AN ARTIST.

Actually, I think the swedes might have got it right with their cool little multiplatform parties they seem to hold every now and then. I haven't been to any of them so I might be totally wrong, who knows, but somehow I feel I've felt good vibes from that direction. Not that I'm ever gonna go to one or anything but if that has been the case keep it up dudes the world needs you.

sverker, actually i've *organised* a cool little multiplatform demoparty three times. it was very cool, with demos and stuff, all the time.

oh, and i really urge you visit one of them swedish parties, they sound cozy indeed. why won't you? it doesn't matter you don't know people in person, there's only one way to get to know them. people are always happy to greet newcomers at parties. doesn't really matter which platform (if not all) :-)

I wonder why people are always welcoming of newcomers in parties but not online :)

Yes Egbert I know who you are and what you've done and in fact because of your not-really-demoscene tracker scene background I'm a bit surprised how you react so negatively towards demosceners embracing various things from the underground hobbyist home computing world.

Oh, and rest assured, not knowing the people who are at demoparties isn't the reason why I no longer go. Sure people are always happy to greet newcomers, but what if you aren't one?

2) The worst trolls and such are usually not found at parties, but only online. And even at parties they're not as asshole as online, since few people can actually be as total twats as here.

And yes, that is sad, and yes, there is need for a new forum.

3.) knowing how someone looks/acts is always better to have a talk/discussion ( even here on the BBS ) ...so just visit atleast one party everyone ;) you won´t regret to have done so afterwards anyway :)
