trace: are your pics meant to be animated in a near future ? :)
added on the 2009-01-13 12:44:42 by Zest Zest
What pics? What I'm posting here is not mine, they are "just" inspiration pieces.

zest: what trace meant to say is that yes, they are meant to be animated in realtime, in the near future, by you :)

Trace: yay for Gargaj :) Keep bringing the clips - this way, I don't have to skim xplsv.tv or Vimeo channels any more ;)

actually you seem to hate everything that goes beyond the conventional frame.
*yawn* What an obvious flamebait, but then again; you're french.

... dude, YOU'RE french...

trace: peripetics is strongly inspiring, no doubt.

and people code/design whatever demo they want, no need to restate this fundamental scene principle.

but personally i would be sad if the whole demoscene keeps going towards such artsy-farty überdesign trend, as shown by many leet demos in the last years... art school students are boring :P

imho demos have always been showing stronger special features to stand out!

Well, that's your opinion :)
I like the mix of both sides. Not only technically attractive but also audiovisually attractive.

Zest: can you name some "special featues" propagated by recent PC demos?

trace: that is some imperssive box erotic. Or whatever it is.

Also, from the same guy that did the first video in this thread... I can relate this to the latest Visualize prods, but a bit more polished I think.

Recorded a video of the distorting ball thing. I can't export video and use the camera at the same time, so I used a random video off the net, so apologies for the red titles and the boring bits. There's some pretty demoish bits near the end.

try changing the background color, add more lights, look for a better video and you'll have something nice there :)

psonice: I echo trace with the lighting-tip. Also some post processing might add a new layer of niceness on top.

yeah, decided to just grab any old video and capture it as it was in the last 5 minutes of lunch ;)

Those Zhestkov clips are really nice!
stijn: those characteristic features tend to disappear in some recent major demos, that's actually the problem *in my own opinion*.

i think that demo design should stay correlated to the fact that the prod is real-time (hence sharing a lot with video games), and/or that it's linked to demoscene subculture / demoparties.

1 or 2 decades ago the hardware limits were so tight that they drove demo design, nowadays hardware provide so many possibilities that it asks much skill and time to run something spectacular... however i wish demos would go on making their own way so that you can still differentiate an arty vimeo animation from the HQ capture of a demo by its own content, beyond the simple fact that you know it's already awesome because it's originally real-time.

paraxoxal examples are HBC wilds : ok they aren't real-time but they show so much scene spirit beyond all their outside pop influences that they are pure fun for watchers even outsiders :)

remember: if pirates hijack this/yours thread asking for 3 million $ ... give em a FUCKYOU sponsored by the whole community ;)

really nice art in here btw :)

so, thanx ?!!!
this thread gives so many demoideas... oh well, maybe back to code some demoenginestuff.

Zest: So, what is the problem? Just make sure that all your demoscene productions follow the path you want them to. Oh, wait.. that's right.. Well, better go back to dictating how the active people should make their demos then. ;)

Zest: You're banned from this thread until you release a prod.
