Adobe pdf as a demoplatform?

category: general [glöplog]
Yes, it is possible:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/01/06/nature_3d_dendrogram_gas_cloud/

http://iic.harvard.edu/sites/all/files/interactive.pdf <- 3d
(You need Adobe Reader 8.1.2 or later for it to work properly)

I wonder who will make the first scene release :)

If you don't mind 30 MB software, updating every fucking week automatically, for just reading pdf's, which take around 10 seconds to load, just keep using it :)

Foxit on the other hand... 1 MB and loads in 10ms or something :)
...But can Foxit do that awesome 3d-stuff?!

well apart from it taking 5 hours to load the average pdf, using half my sys mem, always trying to sneak spyware onto my computer and constantly crashing my browser...it worked just fine :)

People! Either stay on topic (which is awesome 3d graphics in PDFs, not faggy alternative readers), or pouetize the thread properly!

Adok Reader?
Hmm, nice idea. But it seems they forgot to implement proper z-sorting before of plotting the transparent polygons. Other fact: 8.3 MB for that model...?! :\

Foxit is almost as bad as adobe reader, both crappy "modern" looking and slow here. SumatraPDF ftw.
just tried SumatraPDF. Is very nice and VERY basic (which is a +++). Also seems to use around 1.3 mb less memory. but no "bookmark" feature.

you can't read a book without bookmarks!

well, you can ask the author if he's willing to do that. I think it's even open source.
and true that, it's very basic, and that's why I like it.
