Anyone tried Nvidia Cuda or Ati Stream (sdk) for demos/intros effects ?
category: general [glöplog]
Any example of what can be done with theses technologies ?
Wheely : you can download a lot of things from there http://www.nvidia.com/object/cuda_home.html#
what keops said, aka, rt(f)m
CUDA is dead, yay Open CL !
great cxnull, go make a demo about it :)
nystep, I don't think that would be a good idea...
IMHO, a demo should be scaled for minimal HW expectations - CUDA/OpenCL brings so much acceleration that demos would be totally inexploitable on platforms not supporting it...

how is it relevant that a demo doesn't run (fast, or at all) in a platform it was not designed for?
Cxnull : compatibility and support among different manufacturers is more important imo, that's the real deal to have a new exploitable feature ;)

...oh, and yes, I did test Cuda. I made a 1k fractal, and also I ported http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=51074. I had to work some problems around thou, as Crinkler doesn't generate the code to initialize the static objects (all those segments called ".CRT$XCA" etc). I hope OpenCL has a bit cleaner way to do things. Also, I remember there was a 4k Lyapunov fractal during nvscene 4k intro compo, made in Cuda, by Speckdrumm if I remember correctly.
thanks to you all , i'll check all your links :)
Wheely : ca peut t'intéresser ;) http://www.hardware.fr/articles/744-1/opencl-gpu-computing-enfin-democratise.html
iq: you mean http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=51466
this one was made with cuda

Ouep, Keops article très intéressant, mais en le lisant on se rend compte que ce n'est pas encore gagné,il faut quelque chose de standardisé et la ce n'est pas encore le cas :( c'est le début espérons que cela change rapidement !!
for english spoken peoples : it's a very good article , but unfortunatly no standard as emerged yet.
