What AMIGA groups are still active?
megahawks inc
Far Brausch
I'm sure there's still something super...
didn't they tell you that amiga is dead? and so is the amiga scene \o/
lost in acceleration.
Forget Amiga. C64 is the future.
Ami-what?
..and damnit.. I even got the impression that the ST(E) scene owned the Amiga scene in this decade...where are the A500 demos, folks ?
(yea yea, go make a demo about it... :))
(did I miss something, will someone please list the hottest a500 releases since 1996 .. ?)

a c64 emulator?
da jormas made a funny a500 demo a few years ago, can't remember what it was called
you probably mean Major Release which is indeed a nice A500 demo.
Well I guess you could check 'latest released amiga prods' ... then you know who is still active :)
StingRay: I was exactly looking for something like this ;) thanks for the link !
(but see my comment, the demo lacks design, very unfortunately.. some transitions, some "icons" and logos here are there (maybe some scrollers..) and better music could have done wonders..well we all have seen "edge of disgrace", have we :))

reed: thanks for the links but I know about BP and also how to "browse" pouet ;) so, if were to select your personal top ten of the best *a500* (i.e. not AGA) demos of the past 12 years, how would that list look like ?
(I have to admit that I have mostly been following the major party-winner releases for the past years so I did not know about gems like "Major Release"!)

thing is, most of the people doing stuff on the amiga (i.e. not atari) these days have grasped the concept of "hardware evolution" - albeit to a limited extent, otherwise they'd all be doing win32 demos.
well, that is probably it. there was a certain point in time when PC hardware just became more "economically" than those "overpriced" Amiga add-on cards. (ok, to be correct: PC massmarket production allowed to cut down prices to a ridiculous low..)
most of us (ex-)'amiga'ners probably use win32 or linux nowadays, anyway (and yea, you two use MacOS-X, I know..;)

DISASTERAREA (Melbourne, Australia) have recently made two Amiga demos and plan to make many, many more Classic Amiga productions. We are particularly interested in making an unexpanded A1000 compatible prod sometime soon.
And SYSTEM OF SOUND is the new home of the Melbourne oldschool demoscene, there you will find some shit you can play on your classic Amiga. But you should check back in a month as it is still "under construction", and we are all on our Chrissie holidays.
And outside of AU, off the top of my head the following groups also spring to mind

- MOODS PLATEAU
- RNO
- UP ROUGH
- SUPERGROUP
- HAM - an individual
- B.I.T.S. - But they mainly make Atari demos, and are of course the infidel :-)
- An4kiR - probably won't see any more demos from my individual name now that I've hooked up with some real coders, but plenty of tunage out there if you look, and pleanty more where that came from.
Except of course An4kiR is not outside of AU! Damn pouet not allowing me to edit my post and damn my own half-arsed proof-reading. Ciao
yea, I think its kinda strange that there are not more A500 prods. Since there are so much C64 stuff.
I guess its not that much fun for those kind of coders who like hardware limit coding to do stuff on A500.
I also think most people find It more impressing seeing high tech stuff on C64.
On A500 you're like "yea, thats kool for being A500....but...meeh"
On C64 its more "WOW, how do they do that on fukkin C64, DAMN!!!"

It's a bit easier to get an audience for C64-demos, because if it works on your own c64 it (mostly) works on every other, and the emulators are better. The same can not be said about A500-demos working on every amiga-setup or emulator =)
And it's not fun getting comments about stuff looking weird when people try to watch your stuff on an highly expanded A1200 or misconfigured UAE ;)
