Skrebbel : it's long to explain but let's say that at some point, 24h before the BP compo, Stargazer was suddenly granted a part featuring an "animated space dog" :D
It was then replaced with the current "Abyss" part.

huh? why the hell take an "animated space dog" *out* of a demo? that's the world all upside down!
the dog was an animation that was made for the Breakpoint version of stargazer. I had a bunch of cubes with some l337 shading and needed some interesting animation on them. I gave them to our animator and he created an incredibly cool - and for the demo, incredibly unfitting - animation of a dog chasing a ball.
The dog appeared on our demoserver 6-7 hours before the deadline and came down as a design-shock since I was expecting some kind of abstract swarming behaviour on my cubes.
It ranks high on my "take ten cubes and create something unexpected"-list. It just turns out that Oo is the mcGyver of Andromeda :).

The .au xmas compo probably won't be happening this year - info about it has been at http://xmascompo.disasterarea.net/ for some time now.
I actually thought that if anyone cared, they'd respond/complain/laugh/cry/offer to take it over/mutate into porn doggy cubes/say anything at all, which they didn't so there you have it.
I don't have time right now to do it anyway, still haven't unpacked all my gear from syntax.
