Got a Commodore 64 - Now what?
category: general [glöplog]
I just scored a working Commodore 64 on Ebay. I don't think it has a disk drive or anything. Where can I get parts for this, and also information. For example, how does one move a c64 demo from the pc to the c64?
Here you go: http://www.c64.org/
I love it when people do research before buying stuff.
Good luck lamer.

Why in god's name would anyone want a disk drive twice as big as the machine itself when you can just get a cable and use a disk server application? This is presumably the kind of thing he's asking about, unfortunately my knowledge about this in next to nil.
Thanks parcelshit, this gives me a bit more to go on. =]
Just paint it gold, Screw on a Wooden Plate and sell on Ebay for 1000 USD.
Then Buy a Big Amiga With the Money :D

Because C64 demos use trackloaders that no disk server application can emulate perhaps?
The only alternative is to get a 1541 Ultimate which is a bit expensive.
Step into the world of post-gulf-war technology and burn it!
1541 ultimate is what you want instead of the drive. it's on my list as well.
Sdw, not even the disk servers that emulate the disk drive hardware properly?
parcelshit: No, to my knowledge there is no PC side program that emualtes the 1541 hardware accurate enough to run custom IRQ-loaders.
What percentage of demos are we talking about though?
99%
Srsly?
Now your selling it again ... ?
@parcelshit: yes, what Oswald said is true.
Will a normal 1541 do?
any demo using a custom loader wont work without 1541 emulation..
@b0ib0t:yeap
Awesome
How will TEH ULTIMATE work if the state of disk drive emulation is so crap then?
Magic
With a hint of pixie dust.
parcelshit, it works quite excellent, now go away
