They should find some real job.

I was wondering if the grade system will be changed? I find the existing one rather harsh a times. It happens that prods are not judged completely fair due to the restricted nature of the grade system. On ADA you can award a prod with 1 to 5, I think, and I find that better. Just a thought.

i kinda like the current one.

Me to, with a more steps system you will have users that dont give 5 stars that easy and users that almost always go for a full rating or lowest rating. Now its Good/alrightisch/Bad.
the thumbup-thumbdown system IS pouet. we can't change that! it's sacred.

I guess pouet.net is a public website with a public voting feature - hence it can never be fair.

i'd much rather add voting on groups and parties.

Gargaj what about the bbs itself, have you kept the idea of a 'technical' bbs aside the chaotic current one, dedicated to technical help/coding/tutorials/sources etc... and more controlled ?
added on the 2008-11-12 14:53:50 by Zest Zest
that's more a policy decision, and thus have to go through analogue - i myself would just enjoy some categorization on the bbs - having a "trolling" category and shoving all the crap in it would seem like a considerable solution.

the more people vote, the less those "missing steps" between rulez, piggy and sucks will be obvious. and yes, thumbs ARE pouet. BB Image
nice idea, but in order to kickstart expert resources on pouet i think they would need to be totally separated from the current bbs (whose 'anarchy' has to be kept btw imho).

Having personal coup de cours already expands the rating system. That's almost like double thumbs up. So where's the double thumb down to compensate that? :)

Voting for threads and moving threads with negative votes automatically to trash might work as well. Lot of websites has also a feature for voting single posts and hiding the crap posts in a thread so that one needs to click the post to read it. Although this would probably end up with most of the posts in Pouet.net bbs being hidden, so perhaps it's not a good idea...

With regards to the grading system, I always wanted a way to grade the music, code and graphics separately.
added on the 2008-11-12 16:34:44 by gloom gloom
just rate them separately in the comment?

the more complexity you add to a voting system, the less effective it gets.

Please no rating system in the pouet bbs. I used to comment on a danish news site, and recently they began using a rating system, so im now being rated irrelevant very often, when im not. Seeing somebody be rated funny, without making any effort what so ever for writing a text. That is a bit discouraging. I rather want to be fun than be rated irrelevant.

my 2 cent

i have an idea...just leave things as they are. the system is working perfectly, isn't it?

it is!

and i like the retro BBS feeling of things not being very complex. plus we have scene.org for anal categorization.

melw: to compensate for the Coup de Coeur, i propose the opposite equivalent: Coup de Queue.

but the post rating is just not a good idea. Irrelevant posts are what makes pouet pouet. I don't want a /. wannabe.
