Sunflower in highres?

category: general [glöplog]

I am wondering if there is a secret highres mode in Sunflower or if it is a bug. I once got it while trying to run the demo under windows.

Now, I get it when having problems with vesa in a computer. I think all of my gfx cards here are stupid because even if they have Vesa (and I think 2.0) many demos deny running, then I load vesa from software and some run, others fuck up.

Anyways, in one of these I got sunflower 3d scenes running at highres, but this might be a bug because some other scenes run buggy in an upper screen (they are 320*200,. the bug is just like writting to 0A000h without OUTing to switch bitplanes for higher resolutions)

Do you know if this was intentend or a bug? If it's a bug then it's surprising that highres is working in the 3d scenes..

I removed the software Vesa drivers then, and Sunflower was running in it's regular low res well.

now, uh, seems that I'm not the only one having this question, but let's just be the a**hole to point it out first:

I have absolutely no idea. Maybe it's all a matter of translation. I've always watched Sunflower allright, thanks. Usually, those "secret high-res modes" can be activated in a funny pre-demo pop-up, where available. :-]

we've got a professor who is greek, and the funny thing is: he usually talks very much and it's really hard to get what exactly he is meaning. i guess it's somehow part of their culture :)

Well, I ran it under win98 and I haven't noticed any piece of hi-res (gf4200)... Maybe I sould try with my old g400max, since it produced some rather strange things when runnig anything in vesa mode.

Well, simply if something goes wrong with my Vesa drivers, I get the 3d parts in highres and they look very cool but some still images and 2d effects part are wrong (Perhaps I should grab some screenshots). I once noticed the same thing when I tried to run from windows in a computer's friend. Mmm,. just a mention..
