Mekka/Symposium demoshow

category: general [glöplog]
Well, I'm doing it again: A demoshow for Mekka & Symposium where I'm presenting the best pc demos. Some of you probably know it from last year, but this year the show is only about 60 minutes long so it's even more important to put only the best (=most interesting) stuff in this show.
The show is live (I will never use tapes) and the following machine is used: pIII-450 with 256MB, nVidia tnt2 32MB and soundcards sb16 pnp + gus pnp (interwave). Available OS: Win2k with DX 8.1 (nVidia drivers v22.80) + plain MSDOS 7.1

Please name your favorite demo or intro that you will see live on the big screen (but please no 'Second Reality' or 'The Product' because we all know them *very well*). The oldest demo or intro will run first, the most current one will be the last one. The DOS stuff will run first and then I will switch to Windows. I think it's no secret that I'm still a fan of good old DOS demos ;-), for Windows stuff you shouldn't forget that I don't have high-end hardware. So please don't name demos that require a pentium4 or the latest geforce card for a proper performance.
PLEASE BE SERIOUS! THIS SHOW WILL BE SEEN BY 1300+ VISITORS (so it won't be a Farbrausch nor a Haujobb only show :->)!

reve/pulse,
the final version works on new machines

not my favourite, but rarely seen in demoshows.

He showed it last year.. oh right, you weren't there :).

Hope your demoshow rocks again, Crest.. probably won't be there again this year, sadly, but we're working on our own "demoshow" (yes, the DVD :).

oh !! shame on me :)

ok, it's nice to have a demoshow running on a not that recent computer, most parties only play stuff that work on the compo computer which is mostly like +1ghz, no ISA port, no DOS..

Some stuff I'd seriously like to see on a bigscren again:

"Into Dark" by Halcyon
"te-2rb" by TPOLM
"Photon" by purple
(one of the licht intros by haujobb)
"Ich kann euch Sehen" by purge
"Super Television" by orange
"Elektroniks" by doomsday
"73 million seconds" by pulse
"urknall" by blasphemy
"zilog" by sunflower
"broadband" by t-rex

All stuff I dig, and most of them got a lot less attention than they deserved IMHO :)

One reminder: Please don't name Satori demos here. At the party you will easily understand why ;-)

Hey Crest! ;-) Nice idea again!

You _definitely_ have to show:
SHAD 1 (by Cocoon & Syndrome) !!

Good old DOS demo..which barely runs on these days machines anymore! :-((( (but hope there will be a win32 version in the near future !!)
Also Demos, like:
- Machines of Madness (by Dubius),
- Toasted (by Cubic&Seen),
- Vivid Experiment and/or Boost (by Doomsday),
- Verses (by EMF),
- Alto Knallo (by FEB),
- Ninja 2 and/or Outside (by Melon),
- Robotnik (by Rage),
- Empire (by Tpolm),
- Crystal Dreams (by Triton),
- Rox (by Skal)
- and last but not least Bomb (by Impact)

... are surely very NICE demos to watch again...from the good old dos-era...!! ;-)
Hope I could help you a bit...
Just make sure that your demo show won't be held in the first 24h of MS... ;-) As I would like to see it as well..and will probably arrive on saturday and not on friday already! ;-) Thanks!

(if you need any demos from above..lemme know...I could mail 'em then to you..or whatever!)

how about: tgr, tgr2, keltaset, rape, stream, vihreät, booth, uni, melvindale, gamma, 13, wm, gamma2, dcf, kromiset, dose, booth2 and slux.. i mean, it's not like i had my own interests there or anything..

I have made a first decision for windows based demos: Broadband by T-Rex (that's for sure very rarely shown)

And for DOS: SHAD by Cocoon & Syndrome (really a very intensive demo)

So, there are still about 45 minutes left for the show.

'Hot Candidates': Into Dark by Halcyon, te-2rb by Tpolm

Stuff that I will probably not show: Alto Knallo by FEB (doesn't looks *that* great and only one real effect), Rox by Skal (runs way to fast even on my machine and so the feeling gets lost), Crystal Dream by Triton (first version runs only with DAC sound and CD II is not running here).

216: It's for sure not *in any way* your own interest ;-)), but tgr2 or dose2 can be indeed very nice.

Weasel: Hm, you have to talk with the MS orgas about the timetable then because actually quite sure that the show will run on late friday evening.

what about saint/halcyon, square/pulse, secret life of mr black/orange or björ/tpolm?
some moppi prod would rule too, like gerbera for example.
and put hyperventilation/byterapers in the middle, and the crowd will stand up.
anyway, everything is fucking subjective :) keep the great spirit and cu @ mekka.
