NVScene 2008!
category: general [glöplog]
knos: I get what you are saying, and on general terms I agree, but in this case the slides weren't point-by-point sumups, but rather screenshots or a live fee from some tool, which actually makes them interesting. I guess we should start calling them "the screen" instead of "the slides" :)
Speaking of which, I just edited your talk :-) I spliced in HQ video of all of the demos you presented (including that cracktro which took 5 mins of digging).
i can't wait !
Only two more videos to edit (Mentor and the interactive PS3 demo)...
Really looking forward to the seminar videos. Big thank to everybody who help making them.
trixter> will they be downloadable ?
Pretty much everything will be online at Demoscene.tv and/or Capped.tv
Yep, and six months after that I'll release high-quality originals to Vimeo and archive.org (most of the originals were shot in 1080p, it would be a shame to limit them to web video resolutions).
trixter any particular reason for shunning scene.org ?
no play button?
It will of course also be on Scene.org
@ Trixter - Will you post here when the seminars are ready, I'm really looking for to 'em. Great that you are willing to work on them.
I promised nVidia and Demoscene.tv that they could have a six-month exclusive license to the edited footage, just so that there is no "bad blood" regarding rights and usage. (Legally I own the footage, because I shot it, but I want to be nice and professional about it.) When they get the footage, they can do whatever they like with it; it will probably be streaming video on the web, like the other demoscene.tv clips. That's up to them.
After six months, OF COURSE it will be on scene.org as well, probably as 720p .WMV files for the HD footage and full-60fps MPEG-2 for the DV footage.
One warning: I was not able to get an audio feed from the mixing board, so the audio is the field recording which is booming/echoing hall audio :-( I have tried to clean it up as much as I can without introducing crazy noise-reduction artifacts; hopefully it will be ok. I'm also inserting slides from the slide masters as appropriate so they look better (iq's talk really benefits from this) and I'm also rendering out the demos that were presented so they look/play nice. (Which is also practice for a certain DVD project that might be underway again... hm... ;-)

no telesynch than.. pitty... proper version will do ;-)
p.s. Trixter: great that you are doing this.. looking forward!
My pleasure :-) The talks were going to be so awesome, somebody just *had* to. I was content to let demoscene.tv do it, but when they said they had too much to shoot and not enough people/cameras, I offered to help out.
Anyway, I'm working on Preacher's talk tonight (Preacher, I need your slides!) and then I'm done and will see who needs what.

trixter > are you done ?
tft: Yup, it was quite cool, but let's be honest - the "0.008 seconds"-thing doesn't include the two-month precalc. :)
I'm nearly done, waiting on Preacher to check his preliminary edit. After that I will talk to the various people and deliver what people want to whoever, etc.
I will be releasing RVScene footage this weekend though :-)

Vegaboys was an inside joke between Jason and me, sorry to subject everyone else to the abuse :-)
