Dragonballs

Why is Dragonball called Dragonball? I mean, what has the bouncing glenz pink ball with yellow stars to do with dragons or the dragonball cartoon?
balls of dragons must be damn huge, prost!
Because Melon Dezign called it like. Why Larousse fire clouds are called Larousse? They're just a plain tunnel with an opacity map. Because Jmagic had this name for it. Simple.
'Freax' will include a dictionary for such terms.

why are you called Optimus? Can transform yourself into a truck? (ok, low humour) ;)
Was Melon the first to make a dragon ball then?
Yes, in 'Humantarget'.
the dragonballs in the series are pink balls with yellow stars on them, Jmagic had nothing to do with it.
Because there was an object on the DragonBall Z cartoon that looked likt that, a ball with stars on it. I don't watch that show, so that's as far as my knowledge goes.
ah, i am mistaken, in the series they have red stars on them, still, the object probably was inspired from the balls in the series.
Good to know. Did these balls bounce like the demoeffect-dragonballs?
Btw Okkie, read back, I didn't say Jmagic has anything to do with the dragonballs.
ah, i see, sorry for the Jmagic mixup.
The balls didn't really bounce, they kinda where hard to find, actually, the series is about finding the seven balls (the beginning of the series that is) cause when collected, you can get people back from the 'death' (a place floathing in the sky, also known as King Kai's house :))

Anyway, it's quite obvious that the effect is named after the japanese anime (the one in okkie's post), which is called "Dragonball", even if the original version doesn't bounce like jelly.
Where else have you seen crystal balls with stars inside?

Well, it's not that obvious anyway.
So, the entire point of the Dragonball story is about finding these Dragonballs?

So how old is Dragonball Z? I thought it was quite new and dragonballs have been in demos from the early 90s. Are you sure the series didn't copy the scene? It happens all the time.
Dragon Ball premiered (in Japan) 1986
I thought it was just a Pokemon ripoff but I was wrong. I suppose it also inspired Ninja some too.
lol
The reference is totally obvious it's named after the manga/anime, if you are familiar with it.
Dragonball was shown in france as early as 1988.

Thanks for the infos, they were interesting. I know about the Anime and watched it 1-2 times but haven't encountered any dragonballs in it yet. I will ask my brother who has watched enough episodes.
When you find all seven Dragonballs and put them together, the dragon Shenlong is called who grants one wish. (He can even bring back a dead person, but only once.) After that, the Dragonballs will transform into normal stone balls, and get scattered around the world. After one year, the Dragonballs re-transform, and can be searched again.
Created a list of prods with dragonballs. Feel free to suggest additional additions here.
Haha, I called it a cartoon back in time. Now I call it a weeaboo.
p.s. Still haven't ever watched dragonball
