NO IT WAS BORN IN THE DETROIT,MICHIGAN
uns3en_: stop repeating what others say, detroit, michigan IS wasteland.
IT WAS BORN IN THE MOTHER MATRIX
It began in Japan during the Edo Period, using rice paper and candles.
I must thank temis for the awesome demoparty and fun I had. And the free copy of spore \o/
at least Flo, Accession and ISO did not qualify for getting a demobox
@iq: "We will not see any more demos without it I think." Well, if you can come up with a way to do SSAO on my PCjr faster than weeks per frame, by all means, throw me some info ;-)
Started editing Chaos' footage tonight! Thanks to ryg for adding some features to kkapture for me.

What are these 'features' you talk of? *curious to know more*
1. kkapture -pr0n
2. profit

Nothing of the sort, and nothing particularly exciting either. Trixter requested 3 significant digits for the frame rate; the original timing code used rational arithmetic with a fixed denominator of 100, and I simply made that a variable and changed the edit field to accept fractions. So you can now kkapture at exact NTSC framerate (30000/1001 frames/second) if you want to.
The other new feature is having it run the video encoding in a separate thread. The implementation is not particularly efficient, since the main idea was to make it simple. Actually this has been in the codebase for a while (since before BP) and was used for the scene.org award videos and the BP opening ceremony, among other things; but I didn't get around to do some proper systematic testing yet, and I don't want to make a release without addressing at least a few of the other feature requests.

ryg: What about DX10-support?
(I just have a feeling that'll be neat to have in the coming year :)
ah nice, seminars being edited
i hope they're available soon

gloom: woops. actually never though about that before.
guess i'll have to schedule a vista install :)

nah,dont ! ;) fuck vista !
btw, why do the seminars need to be edited ?
because at one point the person on stage is important, at some other, the slide
the slide is never important. or should ever be.
unless it contains the visual result of what he was talking about.
can't he just describe it?
why is it on video anyway, isn't the audiostream enough?!!

"can't he just describe it? isn't the audiostream enough?!!"
You guys obviously have no idea what the talks were like :-) An audiostream doesn't convey what it was like to see Chaos whipping through Debris in werkkzeug like a hot knife through butter.
Also, two of the talks are just regular DV so the resolution wasn't good enough for the slides so I have to splice slide bitmaps into the video so you can see what people are talking about.

no worries, knos and me were just pulling your leg.
Oh not totally. I just dislike when so much focus is put on slides with 4 vague hierarchical points that people will actually explain in their speech anyway, and only serves to distract your attention away from whatever of value the presenter's saying.
For this reason most slides are completely irrelevant (unless you guys are all great teachers.)
They often distract the spectator from the real meat of a presentation, and often give the false impression on the presenter's side that his written material has been made/ (and his sufficient)
I'm not talking about particular visual examples, you see.

Well, another dirty little secret of the talks is that I had to record with ambient audio (ie. I was not able to get a feed from the mixing board). So the audio is very "boomy" and the slides may help in understanding the speakers.
