so is that build not a build of chromium (which should be without those datamining functions?) or chrome? cause the files are named chrome.

i dunno exactly but the last chromium build i've checked was so similar to chrome, only the logo was different :p

so yeah i guess chrome is a speicial build of chromium.

or maybe Chromium is the project and Chrome is the product, in much the same way that VideoLAN is the name of the open source project behind VLC.

El topo: ever been to an opera? It's a concert thingy where people talk in a stupid way so it fits to the tune, and now and then there's some good music.

i'm pretty impressed by the amount of fanboys here, too. and their enthusiasm. if it's really as awesome as everybody says it is, then that's the first good piece of end-user software that google ever made, imho (gmail, read your email just as fast and effective as in 1995!). i completely fail to understand the hype. why is everything new that comes from google awesome, and everything new that comes from, say, microsoft, stuff to point fingers at and laugh?

ok true browsers coming from microsoft haven't been all the great any time lately, so maybe in this context that was a bad example. but i still don't get it.

Skrebbel, maybe it's the little details, the (not yet broken) promises? Maybe because it feels good to be genuinely interested in something unexpected?

well, mr doom, I've not tried myself but in any case if it's as opensource as it seems to be it should not be a problem for us to rip out all the "snooping" part of the code.
