You really felt that was necessary? Especially since everyone pretty much agreed that there were misunderstandings and good points from both parties?
skrebbel: okay choose words carefully in this kind of threads. But devving a good website should take as long as a good demo with less fun, i guess?
yeti: having read your statement, and having just looked at the website in your profile, i fear the worst for your next demo :P
yeti, well some of the best websites i know were made in a few minutes tops :)
and despite all the hints offered in this thread, the website is still unchanged :P
too bad i'm a musician too then. :)
wait? there's a website related to all this debate?
I don't know who made the bottom gfx band on that site but if you rotate by 90 degrees you'll find that it is very similar to that logo:

So you’ve heard something about the demoscene. You know that it’s a collection of highly talented digital artists from around the world who produce mind blowing demonstrations on all sorts of computer hardware.
Now you want to know more.. more about the demos and about the people behind them, but you don’t know where to start?
Well you’ve come to the right place!
Us dedicated people here at Demoscene Outreach have all joined up for a mission.. a mission to spread the gospel of the demoscene to the entire world. Whether you’re an artist, a designer, a musician, a programmer or just someone who appreciates the special brand of underground digital art that the demoscene has to offer, we’ll tell you everything you need to know. And once we’ve taught you all that we can, we’ll show you how you can take things to the next level and get involved yourself!
This sounds like an advert for scientology. I would not sign up.
elsewhere: oh come on, even tom cruise makes demos!
seems hitch is onto something:
but let's not jump to conclusions just yet.

@hitchhikr: Yeah, i would if I had time this for. But first anyway... let me check out the new version within the next week. :)
atari scene = full of aids and fail ... cliparts by c-rem again ?

*LOL* Yap, it's like kinda that.
The whole site sounds way too "msytical", "legendary" and self-aggrandizing and -praising to me. It just leaves the impression of "We are the illuminated ranks of the demo scene. Be glad we condescend to talk to you . Maybe one day you can be, what we are and always have been."
Outreach should take down barriers. But IMO this way it raises barriers... Aproaching and reaching new people will only work in a more simple, understandable and related to practice DECENT way.
Just my 2cent :)
Btw... I'm not on a mission... I just want to have fun and enjoy doing music as I enjoy people listening to this music, if they like it.
This isn't a mission. It's a "simple" creative hobby... The gospel should be everyones individual gospel. Not the gospel of "THE SCENE". *g* The spirit of the scene is, it's a fun thing, showing up what competences and skills fun is able to generate. And what impressive productions can results from having fun.The scene and its products benefit from the skills, which grow as the result of creativity and intelligent FUN and TEAMWORK. But IMO not because of a mission... :-S *lol
Show the scene to people as a big TEAM. As a strong, capable community of hobby artists, working together for fun and fame... because that's just what it really is. ;)

well.. hobby artists aint really the thing as a lot of us do work professionally in the same area.. rather call them people with a similar hobby in the realtime computer graphics field! fun factor indeed is important, tho a lot of people do take the whole lot a tad too seriously.
Of course there are a lot of people working as professionals in the same field. Anyhow they are doing their work within the scene as a hobby. I'd wonder, if anyone of them is forced to activity against his will. ;-)
maali has been forced to activity against his will on every occasion he participated in a demoscene production, afaik :-)
before they decided to outsource their activities to china yes :D
shut up about the chinese, if america finds out they're behind this outreach thing all our evil plans will be b0rked :/
hitchhikr: Lol, nice catch. Now go apply for a job that requires that level of spatial intelligence. ;)
"spatial intelligence". that sounds a bit like "temporal cooking skills".
When is the next installment of the ZINE radioshow? We (or at least I) want more! :D
