@noname. The guru meditation seemed much darker and murkier than the bombs though.
Probably why I never took up coding for a living!

Amiga. [topic ends]
Atari :p
AMIGA
AMiGA! What else? :)
the more people say 'Amiga!' the cooler atari gets, cause it has less supporters and is therefore more underground.
Atari dominated as _the_ MIDI machine.
:D
i love them both btw. my fav amiga is a1200 with 68060 and my fav atari is the falcon, they roxxors!!!

who reanimated this corpse of a discussion!? I
oh hell:
"ATARI"
defjam:
Yeah, that grumbler text was funny. I don't think there were that much openminded coders in those days.. Owning one system was synonymous with slagging the other one off. It's cool Chaos did efx on both =)

I still own an Amiga 1200 (68060 powered)... then I should say AMIGA was/still better !
but I don't blame Atari lovers ;)

uhm... amiga... duh...
Defjam: I don't know when was released this demo with the exact message you wrote, but in the Phaleon Demo main scroller (written in 1992) there's this message:
"INSTEAD OF STRUGGLING WITH COMMODORE, WE'D BETTER, WE MOTOROLA FANS, FIGHT AGAINST THE SUPREMACY OF THE SHITTY INTEL PROCESSORS (16 PAGES OF KNOWN BUGS FOR ONE CHIP ...). THE AMIGA AND THE ST AREN'T CHALLENGERS, BUT COMPLEMENTARY ... IT IS USELESS TO TRY TO DO WHAT THE AMIGA DOES BUT IN A WORSE WAY : WE'D BETTER FIND ORIGINALITY, OTHERWISE WE'LL ALWAYS STAY BEHIND ..."

atari?
waste of motorola CPUs
waste of motorola CPUs
theo:
Especially because the Atari ST got a 68000 which
is by 0.84 MHz faster than the Amiga 500's ...
But the Amiga got that ace custom hardware.. sniff..
Tramiel made so many mistake, no one can count them anyways..
But - The ST can do at least more realtime stars than the Amiga.. ;)
PC suxx.
The Atari has 060 now, so we can compete in the chunky business on the same level. ;)
:D
And I can add to what loaderror said, that the Atari is probably one of the fastest 68060 based machine ever done ;)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the fastest 060 amiga is running at 75mhz... the Falcon 060 (accelerated with a CT60 card) is running fine and stable at 100mhz, and some test tend to indicate that 120mhz is not totaly out of reach ;)

seems to me that in the old days of amiga vs atari, both lost sight of the real enemy: the pc. Therefore, both machines lost the war.
So it would be nice to see something good come out of that old war, if there's a new competition for the fastest machines :) Perhaps we'll see more good demos :)

well, we were lucky that Tramiel left Commodore before... :)
at least amiga had a few years more than the Atari.
the fastest stable 060 in amiga is 66mhz, but since there's Pegasos or WinUAE you can emulate it more faster on a decent machine.
and there are also those Coldfire cards coming for classic amigas, though the lack of fpu makes it not so appealing...
but i think these are expensive and for freaks only (just like those 060 cards for Falcons)

That's blasphemous.
Speaking about Motorola Coldfire,
hopefully this one will turn out to be reality someday:

And - what's left from the A500 scene ?
Not that much ... :(
