intromission: beatmixing the intro sounds
category: general [glöplog]
intromission: sound expansion is the first in a series of projects involving mixing the best intro tunes, past and present. This one is about some of the best tunes from 4k intros, as announced in the adtro.
Inspired by Demovibes (merci pour tout, Willbe!), it contains 40 tracks in a non-stop 78 minutes mix that can be burnt in a regular CD with the CUE provided (if somebody tests burning the CD with it, I'd appreciate feedback concerning CD text included, proper track lenghts, etc.). Covers are included for visual pleasure, too.
I'd like to thank all the musicians involved in this project, that gave kind permission to use their tracks in this project, that it would be nothing without them :) Sorry if you are in the mix and didn't get my e-mail, I tried to contact every single musician but could not find valid addresses for everybody :(
More info and downloads: http://intromission.stg7.net/
P.S.: and if your favourite tune is not there, just wait for more intromissions, there's still tons of intros to discover! ;)

great stuff, appreciate the work, that background "noise" on the website is reeealy annoying though :)
Downloading now! Nice stuff. I am quite surprised to see a track in the mix by me actually :)
sounds kinky!
Excellent quality, as well as for the mix (very neat transitions) as for the covers, full of infos with a cool design...
Kudos !!

very good mixture, i like this and hope more will follow.
Digging the mix but the website needs a mute button. Also, it would have been nice to have some descriptions for the stream options to avoid having to download both.
Yes, that's some sensible feature, raina.
I've updated with the file bitrates info and a no-sound flash, as nobody seemed to actually find the "noise" pleasant ;)

Great mix, great cover art, nice job!
And we got 2 tunes in it :D
And we got 2 tunes in it :D
it makes my day \o/
this mix reminds of just how many great musicians there actually are in the demoscene!!
Nice :) I see you had the same problem as me [url=http://hangar18.gotdns.org/bitjam/bitjam_16.mp3]when mixing intro soundtracks[/] - small softsynths, in general, gives out "less than perfect" fidelity. :) Like, severe phasing issues, crappy bassdrums and such.
Ah, this is out now?
Good stuff, as expected. A tip of my hat to you, Stage7 :)

Hey, thanks to you for your tune, lug00ber! :D
@gloom: hehe yeah, taking into account that there is very little sound postprocessing in this mix, as I wanted to preserve the sound as close to the original. But I think those little details (bassdrums...) are what make intro tunes special, pushing musicians to their limits. I have learnt a lot while making this project, like some musicians or coders telling me that they used sound modules for their tracks rather than hardcoding the patterns (a practice that is new for me, hehe) which made the intro coders go nuts trying to fit their prod in 4k... Your podcast served as a great source for tunes too, I may have missed some good ones if it had not been for it :)
Thanks everybody for your feedback, looking forward to make another intromix soon :)
