Why exemusic is missing from pouet?
category: general [glöplog]
hm... demos don't play when you go to a prod page, why should exe mzk do? Just a download, the comments and the ranking would rule, even with a black screenshot.I mean, it's few kb to download...
Don't forget that at least at Breakpoint, exe music includes SID files as well. Then someone makes a tool that imports the entire HVSC to pouet and out-glöps everyone to death.
it's not like bitjam or nectarine isnt a comprehensive commentable database for music
Searching on csdb where c64 music means an executable, since a .sid file isnt consider a real c64 release:
"You searched for:
Releases matching:
Release type: C64 Music
Found: 4761 matches."

I was about to write it but Gargaj was faster. Nectarine has it all indeed : tunes, authors, date, download link, comments, party info etc...
No point duplicating all this on Pouet.
(it will be back this week btw, Yes is reworking it)

can someone make it so that i can add my friends to my friends list on the userpage?
Let's move this all to facebook!
What hollowman said. There have been several thousand executable music releases on the C64, so forget "a dozen".
Thank you for all the answers. I can accept your reasons for not having exemusic releases here.
But you still didn't tell me why concerts at demoparties are here?
Is a video of a band playing old gamemusic belongs to the scene more than a cooperation between a coder's softsynth and a musician?
I still don't get it, please help me understand it.

i guess because so far we didnt have a videosharing site and we couldnt put it anywhere else.
i dunno capped's or dtv's policy about party videos though.

Capped is ment to be fairly open about pretty much all demoscene-related videos. ;p There's a few live-performences up there, including the live version of debris. If I start getting more party-vids and all, I'll work on getting categorys in to seperate things.
just my 0.2€, but exe-music is kinda cheating anyway.
e.g. at breakpoint08 executable music/newschool, half of the "exes" have more then 3MB, one is even 48MB big.

what keops said about mods and standalone music already having their own dedicated websites/communities.

...err what
i agree that pouet should only contain demo prods which actually have something to show on screen :)
but
why not add a 4k gfx category anyway?
i mean 4k gfx compos have become quite popular and evolved a lot in the last year.
i'm with keops that we dont need all the subcategories he listed, but imho there's a big difference in doing a regular 4k and a 4k gfx.
not having to store music (synth) and animation data roughly doubles the space you have for storing your gfx code/data (which should normally lead to a noticeable visual quality difference)
at least for me its reasonable to give it an own category.

plus, the 4kexegfx is an official compo in few parties already, and it's nice to be able to group those prods together. C'mon, we have that crazy list of 32b, 64b, 128b, 256b, 512b, 8192b, 16384b, 32768b, 80k, 100k, 128k, 256k prods... (btw, why is debris not in the 256k then?)

I think he is confused, he is probably not good with numbers and measures. Prove : he said 0.2€ while it should have been 0.02€
