zest: it's a public board, you're quite right, and you're free to say what you want. We're free to disagree with what you say, and that's what we're doing.

To summarise the whole discussion: talking about making stuff is great when you plan to follow up and make it happen. Talking about it and expecting people to just take over and make it happen for you will erode your respect and get you derided fast.

As I said before, making it happen isn't particularly hard if you don't set your goals too high, so why not just get on with it? In the time you've spent arguing here, you could have made a demo or a collaboration site or whatever.

Zest, collaborative work probably happens on Pouet on a daily basis.

I have just my own example to offer -and it's not much, only a wild, not an actual demo- but what I can say is that Pouet was helpful at some time in my project : when I had done enough work (writing/translating/designing/coding), I was able to release a pre-version of the story (French-only PDF) and send a call to contributions for the soundtrack at the same time.
That's the one and only thread I ever created on Pouet, but I got an answer almost immediatly. So I guess Pouet is already a pretty decent place to get some help if you have already a good deal of work behind you to back your claims.
Then again, it's not much, but uh, things usually start small. :)

:)

btw about utopia vs reality, i specially praise a guy like Sir Peter Molyneux, who has designed (and coded for the first ones) some of the most creative and fun games ever, even if he's also famous for talking and promising way too much, leading to much disappointing when he actually releases his prods.

and after what smash said about gamedesigning i'm wondering wether he's actually an easy guy to work with or under :>

however i love his enthusiastic speeches about his always new gameplay ideas, i'm sure he has inspired many young gamemakers, i just love how his words make us dream, catch a glimpse of a possible bright future =)

Case closed, I'd say.
