There is a rumour about Bastian 'borrowing' a certain percussion-line from Reyn Ouwehand in "You've got my love". But i've never heard the full story.

And the rest of his productions are pretty much awesome, so it's not that big of a deal anyway.

It ain't so much a rumor as it is pretty obvious. :) But last I heard they settled it in court back then and all is peachy.

bastian didn't only steal c64 music, but also c64 designers!! i heard he had sander/focus locked away in a basement with only beer and a computer during the making of this piece of true awesomeness!

i don't think it got to court, though.

neoneye: They sound similar, but I'd say there's quite a lot tunes that sound similar to these two. I don't think that matrix stuff is ripped even though budbrain megademos kick matrix's ass.

I guess this fits under stolen scene music. Im working on a track where i shameslessly stole the first 8 notes of the lead, problem being i cant remember from where, any and all help is appreciated. my lead is the theme from.....where?! =/

I know this is a lot to ask on Pouet, but can we get a sense of perspective here please? There's a world of difference between someone taking an entire song and passing it off as their own work, and "I think song X might have sampled song Y but I'm not really sure".

Yes, we've had to deal with a handful of real rip-off merchants, so I can understand people wanting to keep an eye out for new offences, but we don't have to turn into the sample police here. This is the demoscene... we're supposed to be creative people. Be creative, let other people be creative.
