scene music stolen

Maybe he could try the drama-less method of just admitting it without trying to explain his reasoning or coming up with excuses, obviously trying to attract some pity.

Mind you i'm not sure pathetic loser and douchebag are necessarily mutually exclusive.

good point!

Linde he is american, the drama is part of their genetic makeup i suspect, and i for one usually kind of like it because of the kitch value. I belive the guy to be sincere enough, but are well aware that an european version of the same letter properbly would have looked a lot different.

gloom. no shit buddy, i think youre right ;)

At least he admitted it when caught.

That makes him a bigger man than timbaland.

Hehehehe. I would NOT want to be a smaller man than Laromlab :-)

Dear anyone who liked Laromlab,

To start an apology letter off is one of the hardest things that I have ever had to do in my life. To start this apology letter off is even harder because I am letting down my peers, my family, my friends, and just about everyone I know. So I will get right to it: Laromlab as a music making project was a hoax, a complete fallacy, all of the music on the Laromlab "S/T" record on Mushpot was made by the collective known as the YM Rockers, more specifically Crazy Q and Dma-SC. I never once thought it was the right thing to do, and I never was happy with myself for stealing these hard working musicians music but I did and now I will be paying the consequences for it! Whether it be legal action, monetary payment, or humiliation, I am deserving of all three. To justify this would be a laughing matter but I would at least like to explain myself to get it off of my chest, because I am in fact a real person. A couple of years back I was making electronic music that sounded very different and I hit a dry spell. There is no explanation for it but the music wasn’t very good anyway, and somewhere deep inside of my brain it told me that I should just grab these guys’ music and pawn it off as my own. The trouble started when people began to notice the "Laromlab music" and a record label was interested and everything got out of hand and my mom got scared and said you're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air. I whistled for a cab and when it came near the license plate said "Fresh", and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare but I thought man forget it yo homes to Bel-Air. I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8. And I yelled to the cabbie 'yo homes smell ya later'. Looked at my kingdom I was finally there To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel-Air

Listen, the guy is a grown up (30ish something?) married man. if this was a 15-16 year old kiddo I wouldnt have cared more than to stop him from selling music that wasnt his. But this guy should know better. His lame apology letter with tears all over it is such bullshit. The guy just feels so so sorry for himself. WTF make a point and go kill yourself instead of thoose boring letters of bullshit. keke thanks!

Wow. I thought it was a kid. Being old and American he deserves to be... fucked.

CrazyQ: I don't recognize them. The first one is quite lame, the 2nd one sounds like an average International Karate remix.

Both tunes have been identified as being made by Aleksi Eeben (Heatbeat).

I certainly cannot believe this.
How can a person get away with such a thing?
Also, how can a Label not find out this was stolen music? A bit of investigation please?

Please, all involved: start legal action against both parties. You need to be reimbursed for all teh possible damage done. Excuses are fine but the harm done is done, and no matter how much they announce it in their website, loads of people will still not get to the point and still think these are Laromcarp's tracks.

What the fuck is up with people stealing from chipmusic?

do you have any idea what youre saying? how many chiptunes has been produced in scene history? The guy is ...FFS look at him! He wasnt smart enough to figure out that he would be caughtt in the global village and with a tour programme like that is not the work of someone who is very bright. Age has got nothing to do with it.

And he is not getting away with nothing. A scene like that is a very closed circuit, just like our own, he is done as in finnished. No reason to ruin the guys life for taking material that was originally made just for fun.

You know what is really fucked up? that people dont communicate and solve their disputes anymore. Court is the first thing across peoples mind if there is disputes. but it should be the last solution. The place to go if you cant work something out that leaves all parties satisfied.

Would it not be a lot easyer to just write the guy and ask him, to sort this fucking thing out before the lynchmob starts to form?. As in he has a chance to come out clean and face the music with his peers, and that by identifying every single tune that he has ripped and their composers and then inform everbody himself, personally, about his michief?

He is not homefree with the sobby letter alone obviously, if youre still diggin up tunes, then this thing is not done with. But i still call appease

Sorry Iblis, but this is not the first time this happens and doing music myself I am completely disgusted about this and don't want it to ever happen again. I think the same of his or Timbalame's situation.

About the label's fault, certainy these were not obscure tunes from eons ago, they are pretty popular and from currently very listened to artists. So if a label is releasing a "chiptune" record, they might as well check out what the scene is about and what's hot. This is how I look at it. I think everybody is throwing cold towels to the subject as to avoid a blatantly obvious and heavy lawsuit.

The artists have indeed been damaged and they should be compensated. To me, "sorry" is not enough. I don't expect you to agree with me but allow me my opinion.

dubmood, to be honest, had he done it to my music, i would just have him face it and take care of the shit he did himself, and leave it that. I wouldnt take it personal at all, because its just some dumbarse being a dumbarse, not some evil plot against my person or crative outlet.

I dont think that he should walk away from it, but anything beyond exposure is nothing but kind revenge our race really needs to grow out of real soon, imho.

Im all for the exposure infact i belive it to be justice, but would you really seriously concider trashing the guys personal life over a couple of chiptunes? i really hope youre all just letting out steam, and i can understand why and im not at all blaming you. .

word. completely fucking word.

i'm stunned by how much i agree with you iblis (considering that didn't happen a big lot until this little affair). and dubmood stop being a crybaby, and get in touch with the label to get your ass on some compilation. you can turn this into something positive (as suggested earlier), you know.

i mean, sure thing, you're been wronged. but still, the *big* news is not that some idiot sold your tunes - it is that your tunes can be sold. you didn't make them for that, and you didn't count on it to happen. yet, you're acting quite a bit like a raging maniac. a raging maniac with a point, sure enough, but still.

Skrebble we share some core values apparently, thats nice :)

Did any of you miss that you can sell chiptunes in America for cash money? .

...People in american is buying chiptunes folks!

If i were a chip musician i would be dilerious, i would never have expected it to become dance music even if it is just a wave ^_^

Haven't read the whole fuss about Laromlab, so I don't know if riped musicians act like "crybabies" or not, but I have to agree with Skrebbel and Iblis.

Laromlab is probably toast for a few years. Plus he seems to be a random chap. No need to ruin his life further. You guys may not want to deal with the label that signed him, but the nice thing here is that a label signed a random dude, not a big famous mofo like Timbalame, based on some music : your musics. Meaning that there is room for your tunes in [online] stores.

Why not? They obviously liked the music, not the person, so why not go "Hey, you liked this guys tunes and wanted to do something with them, well -- here I am -- the guy who actually created some of those songs. Wanna chat?"

Though; (pretty much) all record companies are evil scum. :)

what iblis and skrebbel said
dubmood please reconsider
what iblis and skrebell and poi and all pouet is saying.

Dubmood, with that showcase for Le Printemps De Bourges + what happened with this american dood, you should consider moving on, don't stay here just complaining and make a business out of it. Unless you want to stay underground and regret everyday of your life :)
Skrebbel: Dubmood already has an audience outside the scene and he regularly makes live performances, that there are people that likes his music is not news too him. But it could still be interesting to explore if the Americans can be forced to love the YM.
