Only 48 windows 64kb intros were released in 2007!

Maybe!
All I need is a few indian coders to implement my algorithms. That way I can still enjoy the sun.

"only 4 64kbs were released at the biggest demoparty in the world."
No, 7 64kbs were released at Breakpoint 08. You seem to forget the Amiga entries.

xrl: kammu was just talking to me on msn earlier today about how he wanted to code a tool for a proper 64k and no one in portugal is able to back him up and help him make it happen before xmas and/or demotivation strike.
kusma: See topic.
tool making killed the 64kb
the success of 64k killed 64k
4k killed the 64k.
i think it is because v2 is too easy for jazz musicians. theres no big point really in making your own introsynth anymore, and doing yet another pack the world into 64k tool will get you an intro that is *at most* as good as the already existing big shots. 64ks are back where they started - small-size mini intros for people without the artists to produce demo-size content.
or, well, where they started. i meant where they were halfway the nineties. excuse my ignorance dear oldschool zealots.
oh and preacher, i disagree. mentor is right, and the success of 4k wil kill 4k. the problem is that in the scene, unlike other places, things are only worth doing if you can do it better than what was already done. just as good is not worth the effort. this difference is significant now that "pushing the limits" means making enormous tools and super advance algorithms (rather than hacking some registers around so you can draw in the borders).
pc 64ks kinda lost soul. like most pc demos too.
(i'm starting to find amiga stuff more interesting, and *that* coming from *me*.. :) )

ehh ok that's forbidden. you've been ranting the *whole* ride back from, was it breakpoint 2003?, about how the amiga sucks so bad and the amiga sceners should stop pulling that crap and use a real computer so that their artists' work is not flushed down the drain. hell, after three hours even i was convinced. oh no wait i was already from the beginning but ok.
48 is better than 0. that's all i've got to say to this topic.
i know so many different people/groups who were working on 64k ubertools or synths over the last few years. all of them appear to be either a) permanently in development after the nth rewrite, or b) given up. and that's probably what killed 64k. :)
noob question : why 4k and not 8k ??
zest: diskblocksize?
smash: i've also seen a few cases where a lot of development went down the drain because there was no artist who could/would use the tool... it's not enough to write one, one has to do it in cooperation with the artists who are going to use it...
boyc: you are exactly right.. that is a huge problem. a lot of people making tools have no direction, its like they think "ok, once we have a tool the job is done!" where in fact that is only the start, the biggest job is making something in the end.
i blame farbrausch. they claimed they just "made a tool", whereas in fact they had a brilliant artist on the end using it. they sold us all down the river, bastards!

hahaha
I experienced a few tool that were just impossible to use execpt by their creator (enter RGB by entering values whitout seeing wht it corresponded to ...)
nytrik: whaaaaaat, you mean you dont see rgb values as colours in your head yet?
I do, but they're wrong.
here in asd industries we do rgb by rand()%255 only.

first of all, stop remembering so much :)
but second, i think my point i still quite valid. look here, i just said i'm starting to prefer the platform because of some of the stuff made on it. that's hardly related to the hardware 'an sich', in fact, if they'd use their talent on more modern hardware i'd applaude it.
I write my colors in CIE XYZ ;)
