The "Thank you BP08 Network Team" Thread!
category: general [glöplog]
So we need one thread for every orga team :P
The party network was really stable! Although the available WLAN spots were decreasing and becoming slower, it was still pretty easy to set up everything. Just one question, why was IRCing to other nets than ircnet impossible?

idiot.
wlan: peak was 421 machines connected via wlan. we had lots of APs, but you can't just add more because below a certain minimum distance they interfere with each other.
good to know. in the beginning, i was seeing 6 WLAN APs or something, but lateron, it were only 2. So was this just the receiver...?
Saga Musix: I think you couldn't connect to not overload the party network. seems logical to me.
but you can overload a party network more with youtube than with a simple irc chat ;D
saga musix: Because all Breakpoint visitors shared one single public IP (NAT). And irc servers don't allow multiple connections from a single IP. Allowing connections to other irc networks than ircnet therefore didn't make sense.
ok, thanks for letting me finally know :D I didn't know that several connections from the same IP don't work.
I discussed with .waffle about this and we agreed, as a netadmin I admire your work, if one day I can attend a party to help for networking I'll just be happy to offer my humble arms.
irc is bad for you.

silentriotMWI: Look who's talking ;D that sweet and not "strong" vodka you brought didn't make things better you know.
