Is the album/music any good?

I bought the FLAC version, the whole process is totally painless if you have a PayPal account.

I think it's worth the 5 bucks, so far there are some interesting/inspiring tracks. It's pretty gloomy though.
could be used as demo-music
if you lack time or experience...
... and taste?
taste?
it's trippy ambient industrial rock
To rob:

Yes NIN is overrated, but this is ok for a free album.

trent reznor is down with freedom ? how rare !
I don't like most of NiN's releases but Reznor at least does something that might have a meaning in the future for the whole record industries. Props for him.

overrated? rather - they have excellent marketing. anyway, you need to see them live.

what NIN did was bring an already radio-friendly version of industrial music to a big audience. but trent is a good musician, and his stuff deserves a listen. originality is not his best feature. although he's no timbaland, either.

anyway, i don't need to see em live. seriously, i already saw every other industrial act in the world on stage.

marketing ? that is way over it !
they are worth about US$60 million (last time I read about it) in investment funds shares.
talk about being 1000% commercial :D

I'd say it is pretty goddamn painless even without PayPal -- I used MasterCard.

To expand the idea of the "Ghosts" project, we're inviting anyone and everyone to create visuals to accompany the album's music. In a few months, we'll be gathering the entries we feel are particularly exceptional and highlighting them. There are no rules to this - be as creative as you like. Create a music video, or a short film, or something completely abstract. Use only one track from the album, or use multiple tracks. Only one caveat: Incorporating copyrighted materials (clips from movies, music by other artists, etc) into your video might limit our ability to feature it in the future.

So they want us to make demos with their music? Cool.
