Scene.org Awards voting open
category: general [glöplog]
Go on and pick your favourite for the public choice award. There's also still time to remind the jury of good stuff (tm) for the other award categories.
just voted :)
hm... it's only me or Tracie doesn't appear on the list of potential nominees?
iq: then add it, a link is at the bottom.
iq: it's there - have you become blind? :)
Okay, I voted for Debris - the 177k made the difference to Lifeforce that usually would have got my vote. Lifeforce weights more in terms of artistic skills, but Debris is a demo of pure programming skills. Creating life like environment out of pure procedural content gets my full respect this year.
And Debris rocked the crowd at Breakpoint.
But Lifeforce is a very very close second. It should get "Best effects" and "Best direction", allthough Debris is also a very serious contender in these categories.

BTW: My suggestion for "Best breakthrough" is Coaxial by Core Dumped so far: http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=33222
An other good breakthrough performances last year?

Thanks for your opinion on things!
There were many good 4kb and demos this year, and it's hard to choose "the best". It's only a matter of taste. While on 64kb the choice is really easy.
BTW: The public choice category should be renamed to "best non-original concept" :D
rather "who can network teh best/buys the most beer for others".. anyway, Lifeforce it is.
Maali, in other words free beer sponsored by ASD at Breakpoint? Woohoo!
Few stats from the last year: There were altogether ~300 valid votes and by a rule of thumb (the vote distribution being rather wide) it took 15+ votes for a demo to be nominated. It's also common that there's plenty of demos floating close to a nomination. In other words, every vote does indeed count.

So who are the serious contenders for the public's choice? I've watched quite a few of the nominations, and only a few from the usual players (ASD, farbrausch, etc.) are what I would consider really good. What out-of-the-way prods (or really any prods for that matter) are deserving of consideration?
A reminder - you have less than 2 days to vote for your favourite 2007 demo release for the Scene.org Awards public choice! To make this bit more exciting, here's an alphabetic list of current top20 voted demos. All of them have still a chance of being nominated. You know, it's up to you to decide who gets the trophy...
