yay
sounds like a lot of ppl need to improve their antialiasing routines now :P
Bonus: Seminar info has been published, too.
Scamp (& rest of BP team): that´s just pure awesomeness! :) - every year I get this feeling that I wont regret to go to Breakpoint (well... personally I need my "fix" anyway)
Great surprise!
Great surprise!
WOW! Kool stuff....I guess I wont be sitting(read lying) at the front 3 meters from screen (Azzaro Style) this year....
oh, and the compo pc specs are only too now.
Yes, Azarro was actually less than a meter looking up at bpo6 (he wasnt at bp07)
anyway, cheers to bp orginizers for making bp HD !!

Hmm, maybe someone should pimp up Rob is Jarig for the new bigscreen ;-)

MUAHAHAHAAHAHAH!!! I'm more 1337 than you alll!!!

xer: no, ryg won. he said TWO projectors. :)
Wow! Can't wait to see my 160x100 Amiga effects running with 7cm pixels! :-D
Blueberry, in fact the pixels of C64 and Amiga demos will be about as big as before (those platforms are 4:3 which means the image won't be that much bigger, it always has been limited by the height of the hall :). But we could make the edges between them sharper *g*
But if the demo is actually in a widescreen format and thus not using the full height, it could presumably be scaled to fit the whole screen? With everything prerecorded, that doesn't seem like a hard thing to do.
Assembly 2007 had sort of a similar problem, only in reverse. They were running widescreen on a (small) 4:3 screen, which meant that 4:3 format entries were shown with borders all around, which looked rather silly.

sparcus: let's do rob is hires! :D
Blueberry: *Maybe*. The problem is that we rely on hardware DV playback to make sure we don't drop any frames, but DV is fixed-resolution and 4:3. Depending on exactly which video mixer we end up with, we might be able to fix this in real time, but don't hold your breath :)
That makes sense. Perfect 50Hz playback is of course much more important than filling out the whole screen.
Scamp: Congrats, that's a huge thing (*smile*) for Breakpoint :)
Congratulations, gentlemen. That's a great improvement indeed.
looking forward to trying this out - lets hope the compomachine's gfxcard is man enough to handle the res. :)

The competition machine most likely will be a Intel Core2 Quad Q6700 with 2GB of RAM and an NVidia GeForce 8800 GTX (>=640MB VRAM).
wow!! Awesome dudes! can't wait to see the compos!! :D
ryg, if i make a real wild with a fixed screen size (4:3 in my case), can i submit my own recording of it that's 16:9 and drops the black borders on top and bottom? not that i've got any clue on how to record textmode but that's next issue :-)
i think blueberry is right; it'd be most awesome if the screen could actually be used by all platforms, and not only modern pc demos.
