leijaa: I think this is only possible if you do not have selected "ACPI" during windows installation.. Because if you did, the cards share one (?!!) interrupt.

Somewhere on the internetz I read that it is possible to convert a Windows installation to a "Standard PC" (no ACPI)... but I dunno how well that plays with multicore CPUs..

ACPI just uses one interrupt, yes. The chipset simply records the source (PCI bus number and device number) of events. All prioritizing is done by the OS nowadays. Far more flexible (and less brittle) than assigning one of 16 IRQ numbers with a fixed mapping of number to priority.

leijaa: it's tough to move anything at all in a laptop ;)

I think pretty much everything uses ACPI now, and probably for the last 5 years or so. The only reason I've seen to turn it off is to use one copy of windows on multiple PCs, and even then it's a bad idea.

Just make a new amiga demo instead. Paula DMA is nice and predictable :-)

skrebbel: it reminds me of the neighbourhood kids back in the 90s who wanted to "copy" my gravis ultrasound. daft bastards thought it was enough just to copy the driver floppys and then they would have a soundcard.

On thing that you could try is to find the soundcards manufactors homepage. And look if there is more updated soundcard drivers there. I have a intergrated Realtek sound card but when i check my motherboard support page (Gigabyte) i never see any updates. But on Realkteks homepage i find new drivers all the time.

gloom, a guy in my class once installed the internet to his computer, but said he couldn't use it yet because it needed a modem which was due to arrive next week. but, he already had the internet.

We had a guy here who told us once that he couldn't upgrade to ADSL because there was no firmware update for his 56k modem to support 512k speed. It wouldn't be so bad, if he wasn't a computer technician with around 10 years experience and he hadn't just spent several hours researching it.

at least he did his homework :)

unfortunately you won't find any drivers on AD (Analog Devices)'s homepage.

Odd thing: when watching i.e. prods like Iconoclast or Aether the system produces some nice (not) stereo pop-click noises (not to the point of compromising playback speed anyway)...
The problem is that up to 1-2 months ago I hadn't this problem at all. Hmmmmmmm... -_-

bartman: I know, but Asus has the newest drivers. Didn't help though.
Quisten: no, even playing from winamp and no sound in the demo produces the same bug in the winamp-stream. Besides, I used fmod in noumenon where the bug was documented thanks to psonice and smash.

These drivers seem do have a little higher version number than those on Asus web page. But my experience tells me that the only solution is to buy a dedicated sound card. Those integrated sound cards pure crap :)
