First machine?
category: general [glöplog]
first machine was some obscure pong-console that i don't remember very well.
made first steps in programming on c=16 and c=64,
then stayed with different amigas for a decade.

A CPC 6128 near 86/87, an Amiga 500 (extended =)) around 91/92, a 486sx33, an Amiga 1200, and now i'm still on PC crap since 1999.
oops i forget i have a GBA =)

c64 ofcourse
oh wait, we had a PET for a while as well. that was pretty crap.

MSX (Spectravideo 728). It wasn't in the 80's but in the very early 90's not for very long either :p After that, PC after PC after PC.... Lately I have 'revived' my MSX thingy and started collecting MSX hardware and games.
Atari of course.
130XE. Man that rocked, 128kB so you'd have a 64kb ram disk, wow! ;)
ANTIC forever

my first one was iirc some weird-ass ericsson thingy with two floppy drives and nothing else back in 1986 or so. i remember it was beige and that it had basic=)

C64. My first self-owned PC was a Cyrix 486 crap machine (at least it had a GUS) :)
First machine was an acorn atom:
Then several spectrums (48k [Spectrum+], 128k [+2A]), ending up with an Amstrad PC1512 (8086), went to 486DX-33 after that

uhm, wrong... my uncle's was PC1512... ours was PC1640 (both 8mhz 8086... one with 512Kb RAM, the other with 640)... it had a 12Mb HDD where I used DOS, GEM and eventually Windows 1.10 (although Digital's GEM was much better than Windows by then) and a 5"1/4 floppy drive (I still have some discs from then). Had a Hercules card which came with a CGA emulator so we could play games like Bushido, Leisure Suit Larry, King's Quest or World Tour Golf.
Vic20
C128D with a small balck&white TV :)
Then there was a Amiga500+ (with up to 2MB ChipRam!)
After that only PCs - until I recently bought a used (surprise, surprise) A4000-040/50MHz with Picasso IV etc.

First computer used: HP 3000 timesharing system, then PDP-11/70 timesharing system. First computer owned: ZX-81, never did much with it. Took out a bank loan for $6K in order to get an Amiga 1000. Didn't do much more with that one, either. Sold the monitor for $100 and tossed in the A1000 for free and bought an 8088 IBM PC w/a 20 MB hard card. Did stuff with that one. Upgraded to a 90 MHz Pentium in 1993. Did more stuff with that one. Then followed an evolving parade of PC clones with Intel processors, upgrading the whole box every couple of years.
I got an Atari PC3 (8088/8MHz) in 94. Some weird "hybrid", used Atari floppy-drive and mouse and had a grayscale EGA Monitor...
moved on to 286 in 95, then Pentium 100 in 96 and that's when I first came in contact with the scene.

A 286 PC. :-/ Then got a 386 a couple of years later and used it until autumn 2000, after that I've had a whole bunch of computers (Pentium 90 laptop, P 90 desktop, PII 400 laptop, P 166 desktop, Athlon 1800+ XP, P 166 laptop). Only got my first non-PC computer (a C64) in June 2002.
My first machine was a 286 too =) then a 486 and more :) Today i got a Athlon 1800 :)
I used a bit apple II and C64 before bought my own machine!

vic20 -> c64 -> a500 -> 486 -> p200, etc, lame pc age
i must emphasize the amiga era.
although i'm not a die-hard amiga fanatic these days, it's still the computer with absolutely the best memories for me, and also the one that made me actually start contributing to the scene, after seeing demos on the c64 and later on the amiga.
(it's also the one with the only real demoscene - screw atari st ;)

the good old days right reed? polishing your floppies..
yep... these days i'm trying to emulate that feeling by polishing my tight cop boots and my biker helmet
Dragon 32. (I see somebody else actually had one too!)
Then c64, a500, a1200 (later upgraded to 040, 32mb, big harddisk (was a real killer machine back then :) I even put it in a tower. Note that I said put it in, not fixed it in :) The side of the case wouldn't fit on cause the floppy drive was hanging out :)
Then build my 1st pc (previously shared house with a guy who had 386, 486, pentium, and never considered a pc to be better than my amiga until fast pentiums, p2 came along). It was k6. Then built a nicer machine for using lightwave, with dual p2s.
Currently using unpolished duron 600, with no plans to upgrade it :)
Oh yes, also had a cd32, networked it to amiga, and used it as a cdrom :) Eventually, I used it upside down as a mouse mat, but some bastard broke into my flat and nicked it ;( That was a damn fine mousemat!
