exhibitionism surges in cold climates apparently
It's a shame Buttler has left Pouet. I wonder what he would've thought about all this.
Good luck Nosfe btw!

Blah.
Why do you always have your openings on weird days when I can't come?
(Or, why does the opera only have tickets left for the 24th).

"Fine art" is such a broad definition though. What should one expect to see? Wikipedia's list is:
* Architecture
* Avant-garde music
* Comics
* Dance
* Drawing
* Electronic Media
* Film and Cinematography
* Fine art photography
* Printmaking
* Sculpture
* Textiles, including quilt art and "wearables" or "pre-wearables" frequently considered fine art if part of an art display
* Theatre
* Western art music

* Demoscene
Most of the demoscene would not be considered art.

okkie: that's fine, i wouldn't consider most stuff in museums or exhibitions as art ;)
what a fine example of a situation when *not* to take wikipedia seriously. it is obvious that every art zealot in a certain niche added their own hobby to that list. these lists have a tendency of growing a lot faster than they ever shrink, and because the term has a different defition in different places and communities, nobody dares fixing it. have you never seen the "... are, amongs others, <enumeration spanning six lines>" type of sentences?
actually i've always considered classifying arts (fine or not, major or minor, numbered etc...) as totally bogus, useless and unfair.
even if there are historical reasons.
"Master of Fine Arts" sounds great, almost as good as "Master of the Universe" or something.
(Ei ollut vittuilua tai mitään, tuli vaan mieleen.)
I'll try to visit the exhibition if possible. Is it open every day or Mon-Fri/Sat?

That's what I mean. "Fine art" sounds incredibly fancy, so of course all artists want their art to fall under that heading, so that they too can sound fancy. But I think to most people who don't give it a lot of thought, "fine art" is most often associated with high culture, so it's taken to mean classical music, renaissance paintings, ballet and so on.
So, does this exhibition satisfy the common understanding of what fine art is, or do you need an arts degree to even know what you're getting yourself into?
