i knew that somebody would post it here! damn you, gargaj ;) ! i would have prefered a low profile until the website reveals the details, but anyway ...
there's a neat back story of the cover artwork, that can be read in the magazine itself. since it's public now, here's a summary: the face actually resembles Navis of ASD (he sent me an age old webcam shot that was clearly too low res to be uses anywhere in the mag, but it turned out to be a nice basis for an illustration). the head illustration was done by hand in illustrator and then fused with generative design elements in processing. the finished artwork was then cut in a piece of wood -- with a laser. bridging the analog/digital divide, that is.
