im seriously considering you as just another troll and simply banning you to end this discussion, im refraining from doing so for the obvious fact that im involved in the discussion itself otherwise you'd be gone from pouet by now.

haha, I wish I could enlarge that post! I guess Pouet has it's own version of the Patriot act now!

"If you disagree with the American government you must be a terrorist and face imprisonment."

WTF

"If you disagree with pouet admins, you must be a troll and face banning."

Allright.. You know? You're the pretentious one here, Buttler, with your snobbery, and your "prove your value to me" attitude. You're the one acting like a prince, taking and judging without ever giving. I'm sad to say none of us are princes, including you. It's a whole bucket of lies that our parents tell us instead of revealing some things like .. really I don't feel like going on, just listen to this instead.

It's amusing that I'm the one getting labelled as a troll when I clearly believe in what I'm saying, I'm putting forward lots of logical and civilised arguments, I've not swore or made any personal insults or threats towards anybody.

You know I'm not a troll, but you want to ban me because it would be a convenient way to shut me up. That's the lowest card you could play and you know it!

I'm not going to contribute to this thread any more because I do want to continue visiting pouet and following the demo scene content here, but I think I've made more than enough points here.

hmm... on second thought some people already seem to believe im a nazi dictator and you keep acting like a troll regardless of our tolerance and warning, so, congrats, you're now banned from posting your idiocy on pouet.

now you can enjoy your amusement from outside of the playground. garanteed no swearing or personal insults for acting like a clueless twit. have fun!

if he wasn't intentionally being such a prick i might even have felt sorry for him :P

buttler: you'll be back once PS cools down :)

maybe, im waiting to see how many people will actually complain that i banned him.

in the meantime it'll give him some time to reflect on his idiocy and what we were actually trying to get into his thick skull instead of retorking more flamebait horseshit disguised as selfpity.

well done.

thumb up for the ban!

knos, check out an organist and a composer called Harri Viitanen, he is strongly influenced by Messiaen and has made some compositions based on bird singing. I heard him play parts of his composition and it was extremely good, definetly worth to go see if he happens to play in france again, i think he had a concert in notre dame some time ago. he has made some cd's but i doubt they would be even close to hearing the real church organ.

This ban is genius. It's art ;)

Yeah, that ban is almost like 4'33, but so much more gratifying... :)

See, I was fearing this. Some person would clash on a personality level with ps and there goes a ban. You know, ps, you're quite close to the truth here. You are not a nazi, but you you had the chance of proving that bans wouldn't be put upon people, who seriously tried to contribute to discussions, but you blew it. I'm pretty sure that you're going to say that he did nothing but disturb the discussion, but I'm afraid you're blind to looking at the bigger picture here. He had some valid arguments that he sticked to (and, agreed, he had some unfortunate ones, too), but was nowhere near a troll - where is the tolerance that I thought was part of this site?
i must admit i agree with nutman. buttler was making points. crappy ones, but nothing of the kind of nitro's ball-pool and laptop pictures or parse43's utter poo, or seel's mindless ramblings.

every time someone does the RIP thread thing, some buttler-type will go on pissing on it, be it with good or bad points - it'll be someone else next time. i think buttler behaved as well as anybody else did at some point, he just got into a flame war, which all of us did, often enough.

ps, be a man and get him back in.

oh, and never heard of stockhausen. i guess he had a long, healthy and fruitful life so that's all fine and dandy.

ps, reread the thread and either unban buttler or ban yourself

reasons for ban include:
- reocurringly adding fake productions to database
- reocurringly starting useless bbs topics
- reoccuringly posting nonsensical idiocy on useful discussions
- reoccuringly insulting other users for speaking their mind
- reoccuringly starting flamewars with other users

Especially note the two last reasons for ban

forestcre: Well, if he thought he had a good point, then why go change it JUST because people challenge that point? If he had belief in his point of view and really thought about it, then I see no reason for dismissing that point as being "wrong" - of course, you could say that if you've proved a point the first time, there's no reason doing it over and over again, but it's a pitfall that's DAMN hard to avoid for certain persons (myself included) and should not be the reason for a ban. Hell, not even PART of the reason for a ban, if the repeating has a point, such as defending one's point of view to the persons, who apparently don't understand it. Or refuse to even try understanding it.
Oh, and I gotta point out that I'm quite content with skrebbel agreeing with me and that ps don't think I'm a retard. ;)
I must say, I agree with buttler here. To me, Stockhausen was in the "I can't do it properly, so I'll make up some bollocks and claim it's art" camp. Room with lights that turn on and off anybody?

Wow, this thread took quite the turn! Banning him is a bit overreacting, eventhough he was being a stubborn, arrogant bastard with hardly any skill and logic to back him up.

The fundamental problem is that we have no means of defining what is still "music" or "art" and which is not. In order to be tolerant we have to accept that everything could be art, because when we dislike something, it could still be art, it is only our own intellect which is lacking (or the artist is just playing a game with us).

A line that I draw personally is whether I sense an underlying system, and if this aesthetically pleasing to me. Composers like Zemlinsky and Prokofiev have written some complicated pieces, but they remain understandable and fun to me. They only extend tonality. I actually like that.

But I must be ready to accept that there are people who "understand" more complicated types of music as well. Those pretentious bastards :)
