Pouet is for trolling, ive been trolling here from day one. That be, since 2002-03-22. I havnt wrote one single serious post, on this site as far as I can remember. And im not the worst by far. I cant imagine you just banned someone from pouet. Even less that it was because of trolling.

gloom, my compliments for accurately describing what is already commonly known in parts of the demoscene as "pulling a nitro". for instance, last evoke shifter pulled a nitro when he, after a few drinks and then some, grabbed the stage mike and started making loud non-funny jokes in german (because when it's louder, it's funnier!). the organisers had to forcibly remove him from stage after selected individuals in the unwilling audience had complained that his german wasn't good enough for loud jokes and preferred speckdrumm the privilege. i heard that at stream 2007 there was already a general rule forbidding any nitro pulling, just to make the point clear (i was told it had something to do with zados/damones' spontaneous Tarkan karaoke show during the winning dance music compo entry, which was not appreciated by everyone)

I'm sure you can easily find episodes, however, the scene is not as intolerant as the "normal" society. It's a playground for experiments, for free speech, new ideas, etc. Or, at least, that's how I've always thought of it. If that doesn't match your perception, then...well, boo-hoo? ;)

Sorry, guys - I just find it plain stupid to have rules against that sort of behaviour. Rules against hard drugs and violence, I can understand, but rules against acting silly or annoying while being drunk is simply sad, I think.

Actually I don't see the scene as a "playground for free speech" at all. I see it as a group of people who make really amazing demos. If people want to get mad drunk and act like idiots, that's entirely up to them, but it doesn't make them any more or less demoscene-ish.

No, I agree - but acting silly while under the influence isn't frowned upon (not as much, anyway) as it is in real life (sorry, I don't know how to name it) and that's quite liberating, I think.

I'll have to agree that _some_ sceners do have a higher tolerance for drunken and childish behaviour, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it's the norm. Being drunk and good-natured is one thing, but outright scumbaggery is something else. We enforce this policy pretty hard at Solskogen, "my" party. :)
