Now I know what to expect from the next ASD demos :)webcam input into a demo system: I have our demo 'the evolution of vision' working with camera input, through opencv - the opensource project I normally use for image processing. It works ok.

NAVIS, it would be great to take a look of it :)
if i may inquire texel are you going to do some vj'ing or why you need webcam for demosystem ?
Yay... 2002 called and wants its stuff back
Don't I look so young and adorable there? :)
PS: that was done using the DirectShow SDK btw, full framerate from a framegrabber (at least one with its custom FIFO buffer, it'd choke on the PCI without it if you had to upload to system RAM for processing) or webcam :)

woah /me <3 texel :D
also anyone got camera input with opencv working under vista?
ah, I didn't manage to get more than 15fps either. Anyone knows what really happens with this PS3 cam ? I could do some really nice things with all that power...
Navis, you could try DSVideoLib... with it I've been able to make the camera work in full rate (30 fps for my cheap webcam). It also can use input from video or webcam as opencv does.
Well, I have no idea about the ps3 camera... with 30fps is engouh for me and my current project. But, I think that, if you can get 25-30fps, for the most of the things is more important the resolution and the sensitivity of the camera.
texel: are you getting 30fps at 640x480 now?
psonice, no, at 320x240. At 640x480 I get 15 fps, the maximum my cheap webcam is able to. In the project I'm working right now I don't need more than 320x240. I will search for a better webcam for next projects.
i'm curious, are you using webcam input to get funky textures or to control your demo ? in the 2nd case i would say that 15 fps are far enough (and less putting your CPU under stress if your detection algorithm is quite smart/complex).
actually i used to think of a demo that would react to the people at parties : the more they move, the more the demo goes crazy on big screen :D
ok that would be a cheap way to gain audience reaction, but i'm sure that would totally work and rock :p

zest, i think someone tried that at one of the early summer encounter parties in mid 90-s.
