in the late 80ies I made an intro for the c64 which one of my friends at that time (which handle I seems to forgotten) send to his swapper contacts for me. When I after some time saw his version he had changed the scroller and wrote that he coded it, I wasn't even mentioned. The bad thing was that he was a swapper for science 451 (australia) and I was a looser so I felt that I could need that attention.. but who gives a..??

Science 451 is actually remembered for more lame maneuvers, they did not only rip from you. I don't exactly remember all what I read about the group, but I remember they took some serious bashing in some Australian diskmags.

Not really a 'legend of the scene', but I remember back in the early 90's (around 1992 or so), I was at a local flea market and heard some very familiar music playing from one guys booth.
Seems he had downloaded a bunch of MOD's from local BBS's and was selling them on 5.25" disks!!
He had a kind of jukebox thing going.

You got MP (the ol' DOS text player) and then you picked out what songs you wanted, and bought them for something like .50cents each!

I couldn't believe it.

It was more shocking since my BBS was responsible fro bringing 99% of all the scene content into the local area (Canada didn't really have a demoscene following back then) :(
So all the stuff he got was coming from me calling boards in the UK, etc...

It was nice to see that others were starting to get into the scene though :)

Hehe, and who remembers Visual Player? It was created by some Spanish guys - Iguana members perhaps? - and it was a damn good shareware MOD player in the 286 era.
I remember everyone had a copy that was registered to someone called 'Eliecer San Rafael'. Rumours told that this guy was seriously busted for giving his registered copy away...

Jan-Deerk Mallander and other guys from Bocholt/Germany sold amiga scene stuff and have been quite hated for this. I liked the silly demo-descriptions in their adverts, though. Have a laugh here.

I was told that cyboman2 was based on pygmy projects code, and that he bought it. I dont know if its true or not though.

Heres one i have from an old member of kefrens (the 1st krefrens!) They used to flame Budbrain big time, but it stopped when this guy called brian phoned the guy up and said. "Hi,,,this is Brian from Budbrain. How come you dont like us" ...and he was like...uhm...ehhh... Brain this is the scene, remember. We groups do that to eachother, it nothing personal other than we think yous productions sucks ass.
