Erasmus

category: general [glöplog]
I became extremelly anxious while waiting to find out the results from my Erasmus sign. Like my universe was hanging from a spinner. In fact, I was lucky enough to get selected, even if not for my first choice beeing Finland. :P

If anything goes fine, I will be in Karlsruhe of Germany at the winter semester and you will have the opportunity to meet me at some or even any of the demoparties happening around the country at this period.

Still, the spinner is at its own place (well,. almost)

If I were you I would go to Spain.
The land of the craziest celebrations.
You would enjoy very much that in Germany or Finland.

Wouldn't you wanted to say? What do you mean celebrations? Perhaps what we do here in Greece too..

I would like to see the final results, to find out who is the bastard who got the first FI place from me!!!! ;PPP

But there were 2 positions actually. Perhaps they thought it would better for me to get to the second choice because I know a bit of Deutsch and don't have a Proficency for the first one or don't know the Finnish language too. But,. my German sucks anyways, much worse than my English ;P

Perhaps I am quite a very burned person to love Finland so hard ;)

The erasmus program is with interrail, one of those very wonderfull things that the european union ever made.

I've been living almost 5 months in Espoo/Helsinki/Finland from january to may and i had a very very pleasant time there.

Don't hesitate to study abroad for some time, it's really worth it and it'll change a lot your lifestyle :)

Germany is a nice place for exchange students, the only pb of being an exchange student there is that most courses are in german. Same for being exchange student to france or italy with their respective languages..

And germany also has very cheap booze, which is definitely a good point compared to Finland :)

But the kewlest thing of being a demoscener is that you know loads of people in tons of countries of europe. So you actually know some people who live in the country before coming and that's very very nice, since most of the time exchange students stay together ..

I'd recommand the Erasmus program to all people I know.

I think I'll write an article in the next pain about the Erasmus exchange program.

Have a nice time in germany man..

And yes, shame on me, the Erasmus funds I got from the EU paid a part of my trip from Finland to Breakpoint :P

and yes, save a LOT of money before going abroad.

The only bad point of being en exchange student is that it really costs a lot.

For a movie about the whole Erasmus thing, check out "L'auberge Espagnole". Maybe you'll find a hot spanish/belgian/french/british girl, too! Just like in the movie!

gah.. i had the opportunity to go to Karlsruhe (something to do with coming from a twin town (Nottingham) i think) but I blew it because I didn't want to be too far from my girlfriend.

end result: I end up in East anglia (which is the arse-end of england) cold, bored, and she left me anyhow. Then i went to visit my friends there and found it's a really cool place.

if you get the chance - you go there:)
optimus, the first thing for you to do is going to the tum then =)

ahh, too bad... well, if you'll stay the whole semestre, you'll be able to visit TUM, State Of The Art (in france, but not so far from germany) and 0a000h if it will take place again. and, of course, you're hereby officially invited to visit cologne, the city of sceners...=)

.. plus you gotta come to the next breakpoint.
added on the 2003-05-28 22:47:46 by dalezr dalezr
I don't think I will make it for breakpoint unfortunatelly. Isn't it around April? If I stay for 6 months, it is till end of March. Or perhaps I can make it if BP is a moving demoparty (one week before Eastern), I wish there is a chance for me!

And State of The Art, hmm.. how many km away is it from Karlsruhe?

no bp for you?
man, you gotta extend your studies. germany looks better than greece anyway. =)

Damn! I should have choosed more than 6 months (It was in my choice), 7 or 8 or anything, but my parents were already worried about loosing an exam and fuck ;P
..I am always hanging from my parents.

Who knows,. when will be the next BP? It might be one or two weeks after my end, if I could extend or tell my parents I will stay a bit more there to attend THE Event?

Fuck, fuck, fuck =PPP

Who cares..

I am just angry, how my parents (and myself too) limits myself. If I was more free to decide about my life, I wouldn't need Erasmus to travel outside. I would gather few money needed and I would attend some demoparties. But my parents didn't let me go last time to a French CPC meeting, because they found it useless to spend money and travel abroad just for my demoscene hobby. (Of course, it's "useless" according to what society means by so. But who cares,.. when I will finish with all these stuff and will have a life and independency, I will do what the fuck I want ;P)
added on the 2003-05-29 14:23:13 by Optimus Optimus
no, it's not useless at all. You'll meet a lot of cool people, make new friends, improve your 1337 english skillz0r and learn stuff about foreign cultures. useless is going abroad and staying 2 weeks in a hotel room.
