People are allowed to have opinions, even in IRIS (surprised?) and sometimes those opinions clash with opinions of other people. Pro-friendship does NOT mean shutting up when you have an opinion that differs - even of those other people are friends. But, as I said countless times now, my post was misplaced and I apologize at those being hurt from what I said - it was NOT my intent.

Well, fair enough. It just often comes down to people thinking that "When it comes to friendship" means something like "nobody hurts our friends, or else....." or something like that. As I already said , you're allowed to have an opinion in IRIS and...well, seriously: What MAKES me sad (and, according to you: girlish) is when people start threads where the subject describes me as a heartless cunt and such. I really feel stuff like that is 1000 times more out of place than my post was, so...maybe I'm not tough enough and actually care too much of what people throw at me and my group in here. I could also try to ignore the lot of you and just go happily through life, but, oddly, I choose to challenge people now and then (= a mild provocation, sometimes out of place, yes) and, yeah, I expect them to challenge me back at a sensible level, instead of just going through the roof. But I guess you learn something about some people that way.

Seriously, in my post in the RIP thread there was NOTHING insulting or anything. I just ranted against 2 things, namely that people cry havoc before the FACTS were on the table - so there's been a fight and someone died. Who said it was the victim that died? And don't get me wrong here: It ALWAYS sad when someone dies, perpetrator or victim, but that thread just hit a soft spot at a bad time - I'm just so damn fed up with people assuming things without knowing the facts.

Combining this with the sad truth that people have a hard time coping with the immense sadness that lies in millions of people dying due to natural disasters, hunger or massacres and find it easier to mourn over 1 death, made me post an answer - I posted it in the wrong place, perhaps, and for that I have apologized countless times now.

But to ask me to STFU when I'm being verbally attacked (and I was quite heavily verbally attacked by the title of your thread, don't you agree?) is simply not a rule I can obey at all. I don't ask or automatically expect you to be silent either whenever I don't agree with what you're writing - however, I WOULD point out if I thought you should express your feelings someplace else, which I think anyone has every right to do. But I would NEVER start at thread with an insulting title like yours. NEVER! I have too much respect for any scener to do that.

Well, you could have started your own thread named something like "about RIP-threads". My way of dealing with those threats is I don't post RIP unless I have at least talked to the respective person. And, in my humble opinion, asking those people who actually know him why they are grieving for this person and not the millions dying in Darfur is kind of counterproductive. Those who *really* new that person get angry because you hurt their feelings, those who just write RIP because everyone does, think that you want to be their teacher and thus consider you very arrogant. What else do you expect?
