It was a funny thing, and as in eurovision songcontest they all nominees sucked, and wrong people won.. this could be broadcasted on TV i gues.. :)
babelfish's stefan-to-english translation:
the event ruled, looking forward for it next year too!

hmm, my english tend to get worse and worse when i write on my laptop.. i dont know why... but i think it has to do with that its possible to write *to* fast on this keyboard... hmm.. :D
anyways..

My theory is that laptop keyboards cause bad grammer by exposing the user to too many cross-frequencies, and with the hands so close to these EMF pulses, they act like brainfrying machines, really.
Same is true of Cel phones, Pagers, Microwaves, etc.
As for the scene awards, I think for the most part I could agree with the winners - especially in the "breakthrough performance" category. 'And' 's production really did wow me, enough to wait in anticipation for the next release. Variform seems like it was probably one of the best of the year [judging by the number of thumbs up on here] -- Unfortunately I haven't seen it, won't run on either my Geforce2mx system (win98SE) or my Geforce4 (winXP) - not sure what the problem is there.
I'd have given MFX's A Fire Upon the Deep at least a nomination for demo of the year though, if not the winner.

I'd have given the best effect award to "a deepness in the sky". The only problem is that the category was "best effetcS", and adits only had one :)
The gala itself was fabulous, very well organized, and the videos ruled big time.

HOMO !!!
HOMO !!!
I don't know about the Swedish tv but it's probable that AsmTV will show Awards ceremony video edit during the Assembly 2003.
Funny but the 'demoscene-Oscar' idea was first found around 1992, on the Amiga scene. Still, so far nobody managed to make it reality. Thanks, scene.org staff!
btw. kb, could you deliver me the awards gala audio recording as high quality mp3?
i have a feeling you read pouet more often than your email so perhaps this way i'll reach you better. :)

tomcat: there was a scene-oscar ceremony on somewhere in holland 95. as far as i can recall, devilstar/virtual dreams received something back then.
this man watched the whole award-thingy and was left perplexed
huh?! he's not there anymore?
well, I guess he had some place else to go to...

I agree with stefan (no really, I do). (most of) The nominees weren't exactly the best in it's category, but probably the most hyped productions.
Maybe get more non-scene designers into the jury
melw: i have sent a mail to shamada who has the audio recording on his pc, let's see when he answers
except that skrätzh by ümlaüt didn't get "best direction", the awards were great.
LOL :))))
Thanks, you made my day :)))
