which was the first demo with vesa (>256 colors) graphics?
and the first demo with 3d acceleration?
and the first demo with a softsynth?

keops: naaaah. Toys is from 1999. I think there were *dos* demos with hardware acceleration (I can't remember the name, it was like "nature" something)

about vesa mode, does the fuckedup modes by tran count? i guess there were some other vesa demos before but thats the earliest i can think of right now O_O

Hmmm... I think the first hw_accel demo was either Bleam (Lionhead) or Incoming Future (Gods). Definitely not Toys.

The first HW accel demo was afaik Nature by Vertigo (1997), which predates at least Bleam (1998). The Tran demos were not Vesa modes at all.. Vesa was a standard (with common API calls and all that), while the Tran graphic modes were just highly tweaked VGA.

Tran didn't use vesa, afaik. Just tweaked vga modes.

Are you all plainly clueless ? really: just use the prod link with filter/sorted by release date, and jump to the older page where a release date is filled.

That doesn't tell about which demos are HW accelerated and some demos just don't have the date set.
