how to get your demo to xbox360
category: general [glöplog]
hello, i was trying to deploy a demo to the xbox360, but since i never worked with consoles before, i am a bit stuck.
first of all: do i really need that XNA-creators-club membership for €49,99 to get any applications to the xbox at all?
isn't there a "free" method to get my stuff on the xbox360? thanks!

Q: How can I share my Xbox 360 game built with XNA Game Studio Express with other Xbox 360 users?
A: To share your Xbox 360 game with friends, four requirements must be met:
* The individual you are planning to share the game with must be logged in to Xbox Live and have an active subscription to the XNA Creators Club
* The receiving user must have downloaded the XNA Framework runtime environment for the Xbox 360
* The receiving user must have XNA Game Studio Express installed on their own development PC
* The game project, including all source and content assets, must be shared with the receiving user. The receiving user then compiles and deploys the game to their Xbox 360.
We are actively working on other ways to allow you to more easily distribute your games and are very excited about the possibilities this will open up for independent game development.
kudos to Conspiracy for the win32 port of their asm07 XNA demo :)
why have other groups not done it ? is there any legal problem ? :/

well, first of all i dont want to distribute stuff yet. i just wanna see code that i write on my pc running on my xbox360. but it seems i will need that €49,99 membership for that.
btw. gargaj, did you do the function-invitation with xna yet? or was that still c++?

ah stupid me, this is a manual port, isn't it ? has XNA any helped for the port ?
and as XNA Framework runtime environment for windows is available, does it directly play the released .ccgame of XNA demos ?

the Function invitation had two versions:
- the XNA version compiles on both Windows and Xbox360, but it has some bugs.
- the native version is the same engine as usual.
we had a tool to make the content, all we had to do is write a player for it. (which wasnt as easy as it first sounds.)

where are the hackers and modders these days, who can get code on the console without the need of a $$$$-acount?
emzic: The state of the art consoles have quite state of the art security systems that is very difficult to hack. The biggest desire seems to be to be able to run pirated games on the console, and that is already possible. Homebrew is not since it would require signing the binaries with Microsoft's well kept secret, the private key.
This thread as Krustys official seal of aproval:
I want to see what nintendo does with it's downloable games scheme for wii. Useless shit, probably.

They have to fuck something up, just to let the world know it's still Nintendo behind the wheel. I'm hoping they'll just do something monumentally fucking stupid elsewhere and allow zero-fee downloads *fingers crossed*

Not on pouet.

third party dowloads. You have the voting channel for free... you can almost consider that a game.bzero-fee downloads
that last b was not suposed to be there.

If you consider watching dust collect on your table a game, maybe. I mean, come on...that's arguably the lamest freebie they could give us. But yeah, third party downloads for no fee would be a more apt term.
stfu and play space giraffe
no, you shut up.
you big girl.
you big girl.
but our giraffe is in another castle!!

even it should be "put" :)

space giraffe _IS_ excellent.
no use for xbox360, as only ps3 can do it right: http://www.psu.com/4D-Graphics--A-Reality-Only-For-PlayStation-3--a1063-p0.php
