Why so many macosx demos?

category: general [glöplog]
Is the demoscene switching to the big apple? I see no reason in doing that... except for the... ah well... "coolness factor".

A good reason for switching to MacOS in just five letters:

Vista.

Why not? People should code for whatever platform / OS they want.
Why not?

Anything that runs code and has some kind of visual output is a potential demoplatform.

Actually, my washing machine is a potential demo platform. It has a 16x4 (or so) LCD display.

Now, i just need a way to convince my wife to let me take our expensive washing machine apart.

Nope, they're just moving away from Windows, because I also see a rising number of Linux releases lately.

I thought it was all about the glossiness :(
maybe its part of a big demoscene sellout initiated by the CIA to destroy the scene?

related to jazz musicians.
Actually the demoscene has sold its name to intel (see the new http://intel-demoscene.de/) and intel tries to protect it against AMD. There's no better way than using Intel Macs as standard plattform.
Normally I don't believe in conspiracy theories, but that Commodore Gaming banner on the intel-demoscene.de site convinced me that you may be right on the spot here :-)

Don't let Shawn of Commodore hear you, it's nearly gotten the two of us in a game of fisticuffs :)

I'm far more surprised by the utter *lack* of native OSX demos. Not that bootcamp isn't practical enough in that regard, mind you...

Don't blame that all on Vista, the booze (another 5 letter word) also helped a lot with that :-)

I too would love to see regular macbooks without that shitty GMA950 monster.
