Scene City - the pro's and contra's

category: general [glöplog]

Having thought about Scene City, people can upload articles which are not written by themselfs. Or upload articles published in a diskmag which the maker of the diskmag does not have the knowhow articles are put online here!

I can understand from old articles from the 80's / 90's they are like abandonware.

But I see articles from not so long ago released diskmags.

Perhaps there should be a rule only the author can upload the article ? Or when some1 uploads an article which isnt written by the uploader the article must be atleast 5 years old (for example)

Imagine that when a new Pain issue is released some/most/all articles are also posted online.. I dont think this would benefit pain as a diskmag

Discuss!!

For people who didnt read the news this is Scene City, a wonderfull initiative by the way:

Dear Sceners! The BitFellas team would like to invite you to the articles section of our portal, articles are taken from scene diskmags on a variety of platforms (for example amiga, pc, c64).
The great thing is that they are now readable on any machine you chose as we have formatted them for the web! Thanks to all the diskmag authors and editors who have given us permission to post these great articles...
An added bonus of doing this is that authors can easily see how many visitors have checked their articles.
A comment function will also be added in due course. You can also Submit your own article or scene interview for inclution here and reach loads of readers in one fell swoop.
Some demo scene interview sheets for sceners to fill out for us are now available to download - these are simple flat text files with questions for you to respond to.
Be part of the community, introduce yourself, show who you are and what you think! After they've been checked into the system these surveys will be available for everyone to read.
Last but not least we would like to announce that the online issue of the Amiga demoscene diskmag Jurassic Pack #17 is also readable at BitFellas Scene City.
We hope you get a really good read out of this section - over time we will be adding more and more content to this area of the site.
Naturally this also depends on your support. Maybe you are a diskmag editor? If you'd like to submit any articles from your magazine/s - please use the form to submit something - enjoy!
Thanks! The BitFellas

here is a free emergency wallplanner file for your readers which (sin)scene city readers can print out if they wish
they are also allowed to edit it and change it adding their own links to scene sites such as scene city or modplug etc etc and share it with friends to keep by their phone/computer

kfella: you forgot to mention stuff like: grammar, interpunction and spellchecking :) Hell, he could probably write his stuff in MS-Word and have it checked before pasting it in this little textbox! :)
leave the worrying about pain for pain editors, please.

Yes. Now that you can just download demos from the internet theres no point in making one yourself.

I think it's a great thing to put the articles online, but if some writer doesn't want his or her articles being included we should respect this. The bigger the audience the better it is. Concerning the mag topic, there should be a gentlemen agreement, like articles from the various mags are not allowed unless they are older as at least three weeks. "just a thought".

No problem as long as the source/author is mentioned.
