I was really amazed when I saw this at Assembly 97 for some reason. Looking at it now it doesn't seem to be that great but nostalgia FTW or something.

Mermaid: Thanks a lot. Your pictures are a constant inspiration to me. I'm sorry to say this, but those guys, finnish schlager singing brothers Matti & Teppo, were drawn from an album cover. So much for 'original artist' in my case! But by changing the background, shining their teeth and using glaring colours, I moved the original picture into different territory. I took it a little bit further in Boogie Factor by adding them thick mustaches. The title is an obvious reference to Patrick Cowley's famous disco hit 'Menergy' ("a frank celebration of the gay club sex scene" (Wikipedia)).

On the other hand I doubt Wool on her mind was drawn without a model/photograph.

I recommend everybody to go through last and this year's graphics releases in CSDB. The output is amazing in quantity and quality!

theres lots of gfx ppl from c64 i admire, just to put it in context though.. obviously there were no enhanced gfx modes like fli / ifli etc than back in the day..

names like T.M.R/cosine , Toy/ex-subzero (slight bias as I know them both) , Dokk , The sarge, Hein Holt, robin levy, the crest people and loads loads more.

one of my favourites thats often overlooked is SIT . I'm trying to find out if some of the pics I have on a disk are well known, he did loads like a hawkeye one really comes to mind, mermaid would really like his work i think. If I find the disk and they aren't genereally known I'll make a little slideshow demo of stuff people may not have seen. have to re-learn asm again :|
