Maybe ARCHIVE.ORG does the job:

that site became so depressing during it's last 2-3 years when they ran out of decent material and were too lazy to update anything else than galleries of crappy party compos and personal galleries of 3rd rate photoshoppers.

at least 3rd rate photoshoppers didnt rip vallejo ;-D

if it had to be revived, how would you like it to be ?
Is there a point in reviving it? Why not use Flickr or something instead? WEB 2.0 POWA!

No no, let's rather wait for the great Internets-2 along with demoscene 2.0

its the old story... its not your page thus you should do your own thing instead of just taking the name.
beside of this... someone should do it who has painted at a acceptable level and know what he is writing about.

eh. i dont agree. id like to see gfxzone.org as big forum. and some kinda "upload party pictures" system. at least we could see how much party pictures suck...

guardian: Like we discussed once: Best option would be a scenish variant on deviantart, except with a bit more active moderators than there.. ppl can put their stuff there (moderators will check what comes aboard to avoid abuse). Plus moderators should 'fix' the old archives for e.g. Ra, Danny, who arent that active anymore :) The start with that could be using the saved data/pics from Gfxzone. I would be interested in helping out, you know my email :)
Demotopia is all you need ;) http://www.zxdemo.org/releases.php?filter=4

We will integrate compo-galleries on WELTA

i also think it's sad that there is no platform for scene-related art ...
a group on deviantart would be the most simple solution.

I've started a small gallery in my untergrund.net account to showcase some favourite pixeled grfx from the past. Take a look at it and tell me how much it sucks: http://www.grfxvault.org

It's really puny at the moment with a pre-1995 look and feel. More graphics will come as I go through the scene.org archives. It's not a complete mirror of scene.org, more like my favourite picks. When I get to the point where images start to get more and more photoshoped I'll most likely stop.
