Ripping, cheating and re-releasing at Breakpoint and how we are going to deal with it

kb_: leave us alone or else we will call the brits and the americaners again!!
keops is talkin' 'bout the world cup 2006?
Anyway, still i am curious on scamp's reply at the question by PsychoLns
I'm not.
psycholns: We are aware of this for two days already. Not talking about it as it's still under investigation. This is a two-part issue. Firstly, the release was missing credits for the source material used, which sucks (but is not really relevant to our rules). Secondly, we still are unsure if a permission to use this track exists. From what I've heard so far, TBL claims to have permission. If it should turn out that this is not the case, we'll have to disqualify the entry due to copyright violations.
We have french fries that can beat your french fries.
oxb: as a last ressort, if Derrick doesn't manage to sort this out...
btw - did the partymeister-software have some bugs, too ? Or was it just out of the hurry ? I was surprised to see me one day later in the result.txt also on the 3rd place of the c64-gfx competiton.
Cruchot!!!!! :D
Also:
Since the french and the germans already offered their best policemen, the dutch can of course not stay behind:
You should hire TEH best detective ever to handle the job

I think its time to download demos and check datafiles for copyrighted textures and 3d models. Search for copyright on poems used in demos. Yadda yadda.
Btw, isn't funny that the best demosongs are mixes of commercial materials. While the coders on the demoscene are profesionalls and can produce top notch graphics code the musicians are still lamers with too expensive hardware on their hands.

So a demoparty was mixed up with a copyparty?
Finally got the lyrics in Suicide Barbies, didn't even recognize it was swedish in their remix ;) Now, prey that it wasn't Timbaland that produced the original ;DD

what a sad tune. it makes me cry! :´-(
p01: You are unfortunately misinformed about our policies, which have remained the same for years.
Assembly's policy is to distribute all entries that are NOT dis-qualified. Disqualified means that it breaks the competition rules (e.g. ripping, re-using content - all the juicy stuff this thread seems to be about).
Non-qualified entries, that is, entries that adhere to rules but which don't get past the jury selection and thus are not shown on the big screen, have been distributed and will continue to be distributed.
And now back to the pouetization of this thread =).

abyss: Releasing of entries not shown without an approval from the author does suck. People have complained many times about it in assembly but the organizers have never said why they are stepping on the feet of the authors by releasing the stuff. It should be fair to let the production be made better and released somewhere else if it doesn't get its few(hopefully not 15) minutes of fame.

Time to read the compo contract? I believe it's all there...
Gargaj: yes it is and it doesn't change the suckiness of it in any way
Point is, they have your approval. Don't like it - don't enter.
Bouyakaaaa shakkka Derrick
(off topic)
Yeah well, but the contract sucks. Sometimes the jury disqualifies good demos too... One example that comes to my mind is Radiohuuto by mewlers, which didn't get to bigscreen on assembly but won the democompo on lobotomia 2000 few months later.... So actually i'm not complaining, since the compo was really tough that year with Spot, Art, Ibiza, Lapsus, Lotto etc... Even Live Evil got 11th place :)
But i really think the organizers should reconsider the possibility of not releasing not shown entries.

Correction: the jury didn't disqualify radiohuuto but it just weren't shown.
