fzool mekka was sure a cool party but i do prefer sitting in a warm dry tent around a table sipping beer and chatting with friends rathern than outside in the rain around a fire on a shopping cart nicked from the local supermarket.

impostor!!

BP is just another lame PC "scene" party.

The only thing to do is to increase entrance fee. According to what I've seen to the Breakpoint, this is a really well-organized event with a really good mood and a real kind of stringent&pro touch in the way organizers take care of this event.
We can't complain if we have to pay more for such an event if the budget is an issue. This ain't for silly commercial reasons. We know that.

Well, just look at the entrance fee of some concerts. I paid 80 euros for the last one, for 3 hours of show... This is far beyond what you'll pay for Breakpoint and think about the difference !

Who did you pay 80 bucks for? My concert tickets are usually between 10 to 30 bucks, depends on where it is. 80 bucks is what you pay for the Stones or a frontrow seat at Justin Timberlake's concert.

Nelly Furtado?

LOL Doom.

Scamp: ok, cards on the table, how much would an ATI-replacement sponsor have to pay? The full 20k? I have some people in mind I can ask, but for that I would need some figures.

and me thinking 7e for 3 liveacts plus a dj set on the mini festival im organizing was expensive.. :)

Shites, don't go there.... If I could have my money back the the pop concerts my girlfriend has dragged me to, I'd be a rich man today!
parapete: in my experience, the best way to smuggle a kitchen appliance into a demo party is to pretend you're writing a wild demo on it.

Everyone knows the best price for a concert ticket is £10. Proof.

80e for ONE concert? ... you can see the Beatles perform live from cryochambers for that amount of cash ffs (which i would love to see actually :D)
Axel: Minimum sponsor investment for the silver level (usually used by the smaller scene-related companies) is 2k. We'd rather look for a few small (silver level) to medium (gold level) sized sponsors that binding our future again to one big sponsor.

If you need details or the sponsor info folder to forward, contact me at kissel@computerman.de please.

fzool (and everyone else) - theme gfx compo rules got just announced
(thanks ryg & fashion) at http://breakpoint.untergrund.net/compos_gfx.php

Yes, I must confess those 80e was for a dull french artist but, well, you know sometimes you can't fight...

Anyway... the point is that we need to compare those kind of fees compared to the Breakpoint where we got concerts, party experience, 24/3 electricity for ur computer, more electricity for ur personal mobile kitchen, no more electricity because of the personal mobile kitchen of your neighboor, non-stop dumbass music, IRC, demos, sexy girls, ...

Come on, this is worth it by far!

oh, and I got one request for the gfx compos: Please DON'T show the stages of the pictures on the bigscreen (and scrolling around and zooming with the mouse)... everybody can watch the stages on his own PC, but it really distracts on the bigscreen...

Maali - I'd love to see them try to wield their instruments within the confines of cryochambers (I'm presuming small, one-man pods here) and it'd also massively entertain me to see Paul McCartny freeze to death. Or to see Paul McCartney *anything* to death. Let me know when they announce the tour dates.

Bartman: no it doesn't. It helps to see the progression from start to finish. And show detail. Seriously, how the hell would "looking at detail of a 2d picture" DISTRACT from ... looking at details of 2d pictures?

And you know as well as I do that people bitch and moan about scanning and ripping and all that crap and have since ... well, ever. Groo and Ruffurto's comments in Essence's A.S.S. come to mind... the stages of the viking skeleton in ARTE... hell, progression stages are part of what makes 2d scene stuff rule. You get to see where stuff CAME from, see a bit further into the mind of the creator...

As for scrolling around, some of us need that, especially during the afternoon, cuz our eyes suck - otherwise we miss details.

Seriously, if that doesn't get shown, I don't see any reason I'd even watch those compos - I can see the entries at home. Which of course means I woudln't vote, which of course means that people will bitch about not enough votes and namevoting ruining the compos and all that...

I dunno, I just really dislike that suggestion and I would encourage that that NOT be changed. It's one of the things I've really enjoyed about those compos, every year. And yes, I do try to watch 'em.
bartman did you smoked something?

why not just drop the graphics compos? and music compos? and amiga/c64 etc. if you spread out the pc 64k/democompo over the weekend we could start with "real" demos already on friday and then it could be voting via sms and battles between demos to reach the final and then dxm would win.
added on the 2007-03-02 07:27:50 by Hatikvah Hatikvah
bartman: I think we even once had a poll about that - anyway, when Breakpoint introduced the way the gfx compos are presented (showing and zooming the steps), we've got TONS of positive feedback from the people taking part in the compo. This is far far better than back the old times where gfx compos had lots of faked entries which you could not notice as a visitor on the bigscreen.

This won't be changed to the worse.

yeah, the way gfx compos are done now is the good way!
