scene music stolen

Yes, of course a radio interview is usable.

But most of the things Timbaland says in the interview are false, so why should the parts containing valuable information for us be accurate..? (playing the devils advocate)

And anyway, he is as vague that you can make it mean almost anything, if you would like to twist the truth (which is what a defence lawyers job often is all about), you could also argue that he was on drugs/drunk or something and hasn't a clue to what he is saying. So as a real testemony I would think the interview is not that valuable, unless you get him to explain what he meant.

But to the common man it's quite clear what he is saying (well, except that the common man might think he acctually got the sample from a game).

shrimp: for me personally, it's misleading whats being said to the public. Broadcasters have a responsibility to produce factual things also, is my angle. see ya on youtube ;-)
I just got an interesting email which had these links:

Nice remake. Well , untill Hadry tries to improvise at the end and fails completely, he should have stuck to the original.

On Hardy Hards homepage it says "written and programmed by Kay "Hardy" Lippert" doesn't sound like Tor Bernhard Gausen at all, strange.

I hope you have contacted Walkman so that we can have his comment about it?

Kodoichi: That's possibly the worst rapping I have ever heard, but 'A' for effort anyway. :)

gloom: hehe, someone had to say that.

it's the thought that counts, but you use many big words in the rap for certain people to understand ;-)

I notice a few fans appearing on tube, quite scary, they seem like a bunch of sheep.

wonder who could have done that ;-)

hardy's remix is really nice. I think its pretty cool that commercial artists has started to bite from the scene. It means that the music going on in the scene always had potential to reach into the mainstream, which i never doubted after hearing full moon as my personal fave.

Its a shame that people are not honest enough to give due credit, but its cool to turn on the radio and hear a scene track remix :)

Francis P.Yockey : thing is I wouldn't even call it a remix. In my eyes it can't be classed as that...

2 types of sampling..

just sampling... not doing anything to the sound (unless muting the bass counts)

constructive, where you re arrange the note, make something totally FRESH. The latter is what i'm about.

No, it means that "mainstream producers" still think that the demoscene is made out of clueless amateurs who don't mind their shit stolen.

Do you mean Heatbeat's nice song from Fullmoon or Jogeirs nice rip off from Fullmoon...? =)
Well it was a rip off of another scene composition by Jochen Hippel (AKA Mad Max/TEX) from the intro of the game A Prehistoric Tale so I guess your statement would be valid anyhow, just a bit ironic. ;)

But Hardy Hard is also a former scener so I don't think we can give the "real music scene" any credit for discovering the tune...and I also think that we still don't know for sure whether Hardy has a deal with Walkman or not, so it might not be a theft.

well, actually i'd say about 90% of jogeir's songs are remakes of games music etc. which wouldn't be that bad. but he rarely ever gave credit to the original...

A new Silver Surfer 2003 video is uploaded (as the old one was removed).
Not as nice in my opinion.

viznut: I'd assume that's purely a technical reason though.

Gargaj: Aye. It's pretty common to rewamp the production of certain songs to fit the live show. It would be interresting to hear a live-recording of a Nelly Furtado show from _before_ the whole thing broke though. :)

Ooh. I remember seeing that Silver Surfer video in the television once. I thought it was strange because I knew the mod but I didn't know what to make of it, like who ripped off who or maybe it was the same guy, etc. But no, those remakes are bland and boring, not "nice". Even if you don't compare them to the original they're plain crap. Along the lines of techno remakes of Für Elise and shit like that. I am disgusted.

And.

Jogeir did copy a lot, but he did it really well. It's a shame he didn't advertise it more when he did cause he did have mad skills (and made some great original songs too) yet now everyone thinks of him as just a thief. It's very bad. :(
