The fact is, a lot of poor and uninspired productions hide themselves behind the "oldschool" brand. This often gives them an excuse for not being able to achieve a more complete demo or intro.

"Hey okay my prod is only one scene with a starfield, a torus and a scrolltext. It chose colors by myself (i'm the coder), made the music in a hurry (the samples i've ripped are not tuned at all) and it's 12fps on a 1Ghz computer. But come on !!! it's my tribute to oldschool right ?"

Style does not prevail. Quality does.

And lots of oldchool prods are great, and can be innovative. I'm not against oldschool, i'm just tired about bashed and boring demos.

hey CMP, when I got busted by the federal police for phreaking / pirating (cards, boxing, BBS's etc) here in Australia in 1992 that made me stupid not krad elite 8)

I have much fonder memories of the demo parties and participating in demo creation.

I know which one contributed to my current career more.

Optimus: Yep, I was the only sceners on the Oric in 1997, but for information the demo we presented at the Alternative Party had 10 people in the credits list :)

Perhaps the "Oric Scene" has more active members in it's single group than some other alternative machines :)
