I'm not sure about the legality of linked pics versus hosted pics. There are several matters to consider. First of all, where is pouet.net hosted? Second, what are the laws in that place regarding content? Third, how does the law handle images linked from other sites? In most countries, child porn and snuff are illegal, but different countries have different definitions regarding those subjects. In some countries, child porn includes lolicon, while in other countries photos of "artistic child nudity" are ok. Also, the age limits may differ greatly. Snuff is usually more straight forward in definition. I don't know about bestiality. I believe in some countries it is considered acceptable, but not in the US. I'm not sure about how those laws might apply to images depicting bestiality. Pouet.net's moderators aren't concerned with "work safe" but they are concerned with illegal content. Again, I don't know where poute.net is located and what the laws are in that country, but I can't blame them for playing it safe.
Well, my take would be that if you post a linked image, you are responsible for its content. If the content (and especially spreading the content) is illegal in your country, you may be out of arguments.
For example spreading animal porn is illegal in germany. If a german posts such an image and somebody else feels offended and reports this, there may very well be a follow up....
The question whether pouet is also responsible is a completely separate issue.
BTW.. why on earth have the pictures of sam, the ugliest dog on the world, been deleted too? This dog has been shown on prime time news and you can not stomach it? WTF?
Do you think laws are just static rules? If sth is illegal for a modern country, even if it's *not yet* illegal in your country (in this situation where Pouet is being hosted), you should avoid of that content. It's that simple.
